Morton Safe-T-Power Snow & Ice Melt, 9 Pound Jug

I really like this Ice & Snow Melt. It is easy to use and quite effective in melting Ice and Snow. I also like the fact that it doesn't clump into a hard ball like some other melts I've used in the past. The fact that it is also gentle on my pavers and brick work and that it won't harm any animals who come onto my property is a plus too!! Also, the seller was excellent. I received my order faster than anticipated and the packaging was excellent.

This kept the thin layer of snow on my paver driveway (size of 4 cars), front stairs, and 75' sidewalk from freezing in sub-0 temperatures. Gently swinging this with the flip-top open enabled me to get a decent spread on the surfaces without having to hand-toss or buy a spreader. Probably not the most efficient, but half the container covers the area mentioned.I refill it from  Pellets of Fire CPP50 Snow & Ice Melter Calcium Chloride Pellets 50-Pound Bucket , using  Grip Plastic Seed or Feed Scoop , which fits perfectly into the jug's opening.I received this purchase directly from Amazon on 10/15/2012, which no packaging issue (YMMV).

These white pellets melt the ice, super fast. Last winter, when it snowed, I used the hose to wash away the snow, then threw down some of this and no ice. I left off a star, because it was delayed and took over a week to get here. Thankfully, our NY weather has been warm, so I didn't have to use it yet. However, as a 61 years old disabled person, I'm happy it finally arrived. No problem with packaging, and no spills when I opened it.This is a very good product, and I will buy again.

I am using this stuff to refill my Damp Rid moisture removal bins. CaCl2 (Calcium Chloride) is what comes in the Damp Rid packs, but buying Damp Rid is 2.5 times more expensive than this stuff.This Morton Ice Melt is 100% CaCl2 and works well in the Damp Rid bins, I just fill up 2 old pantyhose with this stuff, put it in the bin, and it absorbs moisture as well as the Damp Rid packs. Well worth it!I can't comment on how well it melts ice, I don't treat my walkways.

not happy with shipment. When package was receives the container inside was not sealed and so half of the container was spilt all over inside box and outside odbox was covered with extra tape with ice melt entangled in tape. Not satisfield. So container was only half full. What a mess!!!!

This product worked very well with melting ice.Problem with way it was packaged. All containers were in individually wrapped in ziplock bags. Only problem, flip part of lids were not tight and the ice melt spilled into the bags and it was difficult getting it back into the containers.

The container is well designed for pouring and spreading the salt. It is not too heavy and can be refilled.

It's not as heavy duty as promised. It did a relatively poor job. Melted some ice, but not nearly enough. Given the job it did, I can't buy into the -25°advertisement it shows. I've had better. Regular rock salt may even be better. This was good in a pinch but I wouldn't buy it again. Plus, the shipping price was 50% of the product price. I'm nuts to have paid it; crazy to even charge that.
