Very powerful paddle
I've collected a few different paddles, but when I want to play seriously, I always reach for this one. It's become a favorite because it gives me great control and power. It fits perfectly in my hand (even though I have small hands) and is incredibly lightweight.

Great control, spin and speed
Just got this new paddle and I love it! I know there are a lot of more expensive paddles out there so I was a little skeptical at first. It’s lightweight and has a great grip right out of the box.It handles really well to give you control but also has a nice pop of speed. The paddle face is ridged for spin as well.Overall this is a great value and paddle! Very happy and would recommend it to others.

This Paddle Delivers
I’ve been trying out different paddles because I thought my current paddle might be causing elbow and shoulder pain. When I got this paddle I thought it felt too light to give me the power I needed. I was very wrong! The grip feels comfortable in my hand, it has a large, gritty surface area for spin, and delivers on power without me feeling like I’m hurting myself to get it with my bulkier, heavier racket. And it’s a great price! It’s a keeper!

Outstanding Value and Performance
My PBA Cannon was delivered in 2 days. I noticed a distinct difference in the control, power and light weight design of this paddle compared to my Diadem Warrior Edge. The feel and performance of this paddle allows for more control and accuracy during high speed rallies…sweet paddle!

THE CANNON... BLAST OR MISFIRE?
***UPDATE on 5.13.24*** I am boosting my original 2-star rating to 4-stars. Here are the reasons why:Soon after my original 2-star review was published (see it below), Alex from PBA Sport reached out to me to say the CANNON indeed uses Toray T700 carbon fiber, and he even attached a partial screenshot of his invoice from Toray. I stand corrected, and my sincere apologies if my statement had cost him any sales, as he claimed. However, since the use of Toray T700 is such a big selling point, why no mention of it in the paddle's several pages of Amazon ad copy? Alex did not address any of my other concerns, so he’s likely in agreement. But he did state the paddle’s warranty is 1-year. That is quite generous by industry standards! So, why no mention of it in the paddle’s ads or marketing?Alex asked that I give the CANNON another “shot,” and so in the spirit of fairness, I purchased another one on Amazon. I’m happy to report that this newest delivery did meet my expectations, compared to the “lemon” I originally received (and returned). It is 7.9 oz, and thus lighter than my first one. The grip is wrapped perfectly this time, with no exposed sharp edges from the handle’s butt; therefore, no need to add an overgrip. That translates into a lighter paddle, with the highly-desired look and tacky feel of the original blue grip. I intend to wrap blue electrical tape around the edge guard instead of using the poorly sized edge tape that is bundled with the package. All these tweaks will keep the static weight at 8 oz. It’s an ideal weight for me, considering my chronic wrist pain and tennis elbow issues.I tested the latest CANNON purchase at the club for several hours against players in the 2.5 to 3.4 range. The paddle felt more evenly balanced and not as clunky as my first one was, and I played better with it. The gritty surfaces made my spin serves and drives effective, while my dinks and resets were satisfactory. Power and pop were adequate. Although the CANNON does not excel in any one area, it is a fine all-around paddle, and well worth the price tag. I can give it an overall rating of 3.5 stars, which I am boosting to 4 stars, based on the positive feedback from their Customer Service, the 1-year warranty, the use of Toray T700 carbon fiber, and the included paddle case. I have no hesitation in recommending the CANNON for budget-minded Beginning level players through 3.50 level Intermediates.***END OF UPDATE…ORIGINAL REVIEW IS BELOW***I really didn't "need" another paddle since I already own 16 of 'em. But all the marketing hype put out by PBA Sports Store in their ad, combined with the glowing reviews from verified Amazon purchasers, were quite seductive.Since most of my pickleball racquets are hybrid-shaped (like the Hyperion), I was hunting for another elongated racquet as a backup to my fave Insum T-1000 (a Joola Perseus clone). What finally convinced me to hit the "PLACE YOUR ORDER" button for the CANNON paddle was the discounted price, the overall aesthetic look, and the included bonus items, especially the full-sized zippered case (about a $15-$20 retail value).Delivery Day comes, and I'm feeling excited! First step: Unboxing. All 4 items that were supposed to be included are, in fact, packed and intact. YAY!I unwrapped the paddle and got it prepped for the weigh-in. Paddle was advertised as a 7.7 oz. lightweight on Amazon. However, my paddle's actual weight was 8 oz. BOOOO! I'd been hoping for a lower swing-weight that could offset my tendonitis issues. After I added the included overgrip and edge protection tape, it boosted the static weight to just under 8.3 oz. That's at least .3 oz too heavy for me. BTW, no step-by-step guide was included for how to apply their overgrip and edge tape. HISS!Although the edge tape is a nice extra, it was the incorrect width. For a 16mm paddle such as the CANNON, it should have been a 26mm wide tape. Instead, a much skinnier 20mm tape was included. When I wrapped it around, it covered the flat part of the edge guard, but not the rounded edges. (See photo.) What's the point of having sawtooth notches on your edge tape if it isn't even wide enough to reach the rounded edges? FAIL!The CANNON's grip circumference measured 4.5 inches, an important detail that was disappointingly omitted from their Amazon ad. The grip felt overly large and unstable in my hand, as I much prefer 4.25" or thinner. Another problem...The stock grip tape was not wrapped around the handle properly, leaving a portion of the octagonal edges at the bottom exposed. Holding the racquet loosely with my customary semi-Eastern grip, the exposed beveled edges dug annoyingly into the fleshy part of my palm. Fortunately, the overgrip that came bundled with the package fixed the problem; but, to my dismay, it made the handle even thicker and clumsier to grasp. MOAN!Needless to say, my relationship with the paddle got off to a very rocky start. But, determined to give the Cannon a fair "shot" before returning it, I brought it to the courts for a proper play-test against fellow 3.0 to 3.5 Intermediates. So, did the CANNON become an explosive, high-powered weapon (as its name implies)? Or, did it fizzle into a dud?Well...let's be generous and say it was somewhere in the middle. Not terrible...but certainly no game changer either. Spin was okay, but not as good as several other paddles I already own. Power and pop were also just average. I was not hitting any cannon-balls!The paddle felt unbalanced and bottom-heavy. This issue could be resolved by adding some strips of lead tape to the top portion. But that would increase the swing weight and make the paddle even more unwieldy. SIGH!The paddle's faces have decent grit, but it comes from an "additive bonding treatment." Therefore, the grit that one counts on to produce spin will wear down faster than usual.PBA's Amazon ad omits any mention of a warranty. Honestly, I still don't know what the warranty is on this paddle, or if it even exists. There's no warranty registration card (or QR code) included in the box; plus, there's no contact info for Customer Service. Inexcusable! I sent a note to their Customer Service through Amazon Message Center, asking about things like Swing Weight, Twist Weight, and Warranty, but no response from them after a week.FINAL THOUGHTS: The CANNON, at best, is a serviceable Gen 1.5 paddle. It is not thermoformed and does not use Toray T700 carbon fiber. The CANNON is a step up from the ubiquitous fiberglass and graphite basic models, but nothing more. It's a 3-star paddle at best, which I've dropped to 2-stars because of all the issues I've outlined above.Even at its currently discounted price, there are better options available for the average recreational player. Regrettably, my short experience with the PBA CANNON has been a big disappointment; so, it will be returned to Amazon for a refund. My search for a high-quality, under-$100, elongated pickleball paddle continues.
