One World, One Day (Barbara Kerley Photo Inspirations) Hardcover – Picture Book, May 12, 2009

I purchased this book as a gift for my grandmother, who was a preschool teacher for many many years and has more love and appreciation for children than anyone I know. She also loves National Geographic magazine so I thought this would be a wonderful coffee table book for her. The text was very sweet, and of course the pictures were GORGEOUS. This book is appropriate for any age level (though it may be a little lengthy for some children). It has simple, easy to follow text that is fairly good size so it would also make a very good read a loud book for a young child, yet the text and photos are engaging enough for older children and adults as well.Having a background in International Relations and Comparative Politics, and as a Montessori teacher, I am constantly on the look out for books and materials that are culturally sensitive, accurate, and show children in a modern context. I appreciated this book, because the photos and text were of modern children in modern dress. I also love that it shows children in every day activities that ALL people can relate to. This book is wonderful for stimulating discussion of world cultures, geography, and social studies. This book would be a wonderful gift for a teacher or school's library, as well as anyone's personal library.

Such a creative, compelling, and well made book! Creative concept, great engaging photos, and written in a way to appeal to children while also interesting to readers of any age. Reminds me of another of my favorite books, All in a Day.

Great book to read to your children, my daughter had it on their wish list. Her son's love books. She thought it would be good for them.

Everyone including my one year old baby loved this book, i think he likes it more than any of his baby books

A beautiful book and my daughter loves it! I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading, homeschooling, child development and wanting to learn about how we are all connected.

Love it!

I absolutely love the photos. I can't say enough good things about them. But I bought this because I live and work (preschool) in a very diversity impoverished demographic of rural America and want to expose my students to other cultures. But as much as I want to love this book, the rhythm and the flow of it is lacking so much that I find myself improving instead of following the text. So, yes, I use this book for what I intended. But not as often as I wish I could. Actually, I'm still disappointed over it and looking for something (Ekk!) better to replace it.
