Waitress: The Musical [DVD]

This musical is so amazing! Sara Bareillis is one of the most original, clever song writers of our time (anytime for that matter). The subject matter of this book/play/musical is dark; domestic abuse, unwanted pregnancy, marital affair, but somehow you can understand that this is real life and, in this case a, can have a positive outcome. No, it doesn't always happen like that, we know, but if humor and beautiful music can give us a more human connection to it, it should be appreciated. This musical is a celebration of women, friendship, love, birth, strength and freedom. I loved every second of it! Parents be warned, this musical is not for children.

This musical quickly become a favorite in our home! We watch it at least twice per month. The music is catchy and fun, heartfelt and emotional. We love Sara Barellies work!!

Incredibly grateful that more beautiful shows like this are becoming accessible to the people who couldn’t afford to see or travel for a show. And the accessibility for disabled people as well.Anyway…sugar, butter, flour *my tears are everywhere*

We had heard good reviews and had been pleased when we found we could stream it on Amazon Prime. It didn't disappoint.

I’ve watched this over 10 times since purchasing. Don’t rent just buy. You’ll want to watch it over and over

Fine performances all round, lively show with good songs. Great to have a Broadway musical enter the repertoire with a score by a woman!But the video is "hyper"-edited. This is a recording of a stage production, and includes audience responses (though it's not clear if they are from the performance or added in as a separate sound layer—because we never see the audience, only hear it—kind of irritating, but let that go).What is VERY irritating is the pace of cutting from shot to shot! No shot is held for what seems like more than 5-8 seconds, so the point of view is constantly shifting.This is precisely what DOES NOT HAPPEN when we are in a theater—we get used to one perspective from the audience (unless we change seats), and that way we take in the staging and focus on the performers, without constantly having to rethink what we are seeing!EDITOR(S): Sure, one can change perspectives from time to time; but not every few seconds, so abruptly during lines or songs!! You have almost destroyed the sense of what it's like to watch this show. (Did you think we don't react to this? Think again.)Sad. I like the show, but it deserved better.

I haven't seen this show live so was excited to watch this musical filmed live on stage. Didn't disappoint, lovely story and amazing singing! If this comes back on your in the UK will definately try to see it

I've wanted DVD if this show for ages.Unfortunately not the original Broadway cast...Or would have been the full 5 stars.
