Life Lessons from Dinosaurs

Thought-provoking book that should stimulate conversation
I'm not sure why but I was expecting a book a little larger in size. This book measures about 7x7 inches. That being said, the size doesn't diminish the contents of the book. As others have reviewed, the illustrations are well-done and fun to inspect.I ordered this book for a little 5-year-old boy who is a bit on the spectrum and completely enthralled with dinosaurs. When the conversation turns to dinosaurs, he tends to get very rambunctious and uncontrollable -- he adopts the personna of a dinosaur and runs wild. My hope is to calm him down by going through this book, page by page. Hopefully, the illustrations will show him that dinosaurs don't just cause chaos and damage but can be peaceful or thoughtful as illustrated in this book. (Wish me luck!)This hard-bound book is made of quality material. The phrases that accompany each illustration are short and simple. There is no story line to this book but each page can engage a child in a different topic -- depending on how much creativity and imagination an adult can invest. Most of the short phrases are easily understood for small minds: Best friends revel in their differences; leave interesting tracks for those who follow after; fly high above little worries; don't fossilize, keep evolving. A few might be a bit challenging to explain to a youngster: extinction makes way for invention; every civilization has its shining moment.... All in all, this is a thought-provoking book that should stimulate conversation between an adult and child.

The text is kind of goofy, but the artwork is amazing!
This theme of this book is learning from dinosaurs. The lessons are pretty goofy. For instance, "grow feathers, not spikes". It's worth it for the artwork though. James Gurney's artwork is excellent! I think not only would any kid love his paintings, but any adult as well. He blends dinosaurs and technology to create an amazing fantasy world. I bought this as a gift for an 8 year old, and I'm sure she will love it!

Fun little book with beautiful illustrations!
The best part of this book is the illustrations. I got it because I knew our toddler would love looking at the dinosaur pictures inside of it. Some of the "life lessons" are good and others are nothing special, but the best part of this book is the illustrations and how well done they are.

Dino-mite Advice for a Modern World
This charming little book is a delightful surprise. I wasn't expecting much more than a cute picture book, but I found myself chuckling and nodding along to the surprisingly profound wisdom shared by these prehistoric creatures. The author's ability to weave together humorous anecdotes and timeless life lessons is truly impressive. If you're looking for a unique and thought-provoking read, this is definitely worth checking out.

Still a fan of Dinotopia!
I'm a lifelong fan of Dinotopia and, along with my wife, we enjoyed the original with our kids starting in 1992. Although 32 years have passed, we still enjoy the whole spirit of this storytelling project. We're delighted to see this new volume in the series. Happy to have this, now, for reading with our grandkids.

Gorgeous illustrations, ok text
This is a little bit of a mixed review, because the illustrations are absolutely stunning, but the text is a little hit or miss. Some of the messages are useful, fun, and inspiring… And then others just don't really make sense or resonate at all I really don't get a few of them, to the point that they're slightly offputting. Having said that, the illustrations truly do carry this book. They have so many interesting details and create the sense of a dynamic world, where you can't help but ask yourself what's inside some of those buildings, what is life like for these imagined people and dinosaurs?
