Size(Approx.): *Nail Caps will fit most kittens by the time they reach the age of 16 weeks (4 months). Some kittens can wear them as early as age 12 weeks (3 months). To test, try a nail cap on first without the adhesive. If it looks too big, do not apply. The nail cap should fit snugly, like a glove. To accommodate younger kittens, you can trim the base of the nail cap making it smaller so it will fit your kitten's nail. Kittens up to about approximately 5 pounds or 5 months of age generally fit the kitten size. • XS - Kitten : (Up to approximately 5 pounds) • S - Small : (approximately 6-8 pounds) • M - Medium : (approximately 9-13 pounds) • L - Large :(approximately 14-18 pounds) • XL - Extra Large : (approximately 19-30 pounds) • XXL - Extra Extra Large : (approximately 31-53 pounds)Your nail caps will fall off naturally when your pet sheds its claw sheaths, which occurs every few months. You can manually remove them by simply trimming the tip of the nail cap, being careful not to cut into the quick, and then applying slight pressure to the base of the nail cap as if massaging it. This should break the adhesive bond and the nail cap should pop right off.If this does not break the adhesive seal you may need to use a small pair of cuticle scissors to remove the nail cap. You do NOT want to try to pry the scissors between the nail cap and the nail. Simply place the scissors flush against the top of the nail cap and trim away at the vinyl cap to make an opening from the rim of the nail cap to the base. Once you have made the opening, peel the cap away from the nail.
