Look, I'm no diver. I get the willies just thinking about swimming, and while I'll probably lend this to my niblings (my nieces and nephews) now and again, I actually got this thinking of the utility of the short handle! When I need a metal detector the most, I'm usually on my hands and knees looking for the part I just dropped into the tall grass here on my farm - and this is perfect! After I charged it up the first time, I went out looking for dropped nails and broken bits of wire around my livestock pens and I probably got a whole box of fasteners back in the 45 minutes or so the battery lasted. And man, it's pretty sensitive too! And loud, but that's not really a drawback. Frankly, using this to pick up sharp metal around the farm will probably save me at least one trip to the vet a year, if not more, so for me it's a win win.The design is pretty simple, and I love that it's bright neon green, making it easy to spot when I accidentally set it down for a moment to deal with a dog or a goat, then get distracted doing 16 other things before I remember what I was already doing. It's lightweight enough, it's waterproof if I ever get brave enough to try that function, and it's just handy to have around.I think if anything could use improving, it's the instruction manual - it's very brief, because they wanted to put more than one language in there, but the printing is very small the grammar's a bit rough around the edges. Still, a total recommend!

Such a small and simple item with a lot of potential for utility and entertainment. It's small size makes it easy to stow, waterproof design allows for use anywhere, and rechargeable so keeping extra batteries around will never be a problem.The units ability to detect metal is great, with the audible signal changing in pitch with respect to an objects proximity to the detector it is passed by.We have only began using the detector but out of the box batt life is impressive with an hour of use already. And the underwater capabilities tested successfully. It has kept kids of all ages amused and will be a useful tool at some point when needed to retrieve a lost item. I intend to keep it on the pontoon for both of those duties.A little on the expensive side, yet could prove to be worth every penny after one good "find", and/or it's life span of service. So far it seems to be a very good product and I recommend purchasing.
