Hoe-pauge? How DO you pronounce it
Hauppauge HD PVR USB Hi-def H.264 Video Capture Device, high Definition USB 2.0 Video Capture With Hardware H.264 Video Encoders Dead easy to set up. Just follow the instructions and match up the coloured cables, plug it into your PC, install the software and away you go.I had heard that the Hauppauge was a problem to set up. Perhaps that was previous models. This one is a doddle.Just one point - if you are expecting it to glow blue like in the picture, make sure the ambient light in the room is low, and you are transmitting (i.e. your xbox - or other source - is on, your cables are connected, the PVR is on and an app on your PC - such as XSplit - is displaying the output). So far XSplit is the only streaming app that I have found that will pick up and stream the Hauppauge output. Even then, on my system, if I start broadcasting, XSplit will crash after a while - but only when broadcasting the PVR output. Whether this is a problem with the PVR or with XSplit I have yet to determine. So if you are planning on doing a live stream of your xbox games for example, you will have a problem (unless it is peculiar to my setup).Livestream and UStream apps, although they display the PVR in the list of cameras, will not pick it up. Livestream Podcaster says it may be busy (it is clearly not) and UStream Producer just shows a screenshot from the last item broadcasted (such as another camera).

Does exactly what I wanted it for.
With this I can record the tennis matches direct onto my pc (and transfer to external hard drive). Although its not HD quality, its watchable but unfortunately the recorded files are very big (luckily I have lots of space), it still does what it claims to do. It also means that I haven't got to worry whether my sky box is recording (correctly - which it has yet to do on any long tennis match ggrrr) because I can see immediately that it is with this. Plus it records what you see (i.e. it can record when on the red interactive button which the skybox cannot do - so up yours Sky). Recording these matches have been pinnacle for me as a tennis Djokovic fan - with the different time zones and having a sky box that wasn't reliable has meant that I have been unable to watch the tennis that I pay a subscription for. With this. No more worries. I have yet to set it up with the xbox though (maybe in time, as I hardly ever seem to play the xbox anymore)

A must for all gamers!
The Hauppauge HD PVR is infamous in the gaming world. Anyone who wishes to record their gameplay and create videos for Youtube then this is a must. It's a high quality and highly reliable piece of kit, which allows you to record your gameplay in stunning High Definition for a excellent price. It isn't for beginners i would argue however, you need to be somewhat tech savy in setting it up, and then even more in recording the footage on your PC/Laptop and then editing it.You need to be aware that you must posses the ability to record the footage on your PC/Mac - This does not have a built in hard driver and does not store it for you, its simply a means of getting your footage onto your PC to record. Therefore if you do not have a high spec PC, you may not be able to get the best out of it.

Amazing
I feared badly about buying this as it was dear, and because i had bought 2 different ezcaps in the past, But when i bought this, Its as simple as installing it and boom. The quality is dvd quality, seriously is perfect if you plan on doing walkthroughs, Lets plays, Commentarys, Or reviews for new games. However, this doesnt come with the proper drivers, And seriously, all you need to do is go to the website, Find the latest drivers and boom. When i had the ezcap, i downloaded around 8 different damn drivers to get it to work. This thing is perfect if you are a proper gamer and want to show off your skills in hd quality to youtube

Hauppauge HD PVR
I have now used this to record gameplay from both a Xbox 360 and a PS3. Both came out very well, despite me using a lower bit rate to get smaller files so that they could be uploaded quicker. The HD PVR has very easy to use software. Very simple to set-up hardware. And doesn't cause any loss of picture quality on the image passing through to the TV.All in all, I haven't found any problems with it at all. Quality all the way!
Found it very easy to set up, recorded quality is excellent [I have it set at 9MBS]. No problems with protected programs or encoding to MP4/MKV. I use a Revo RL100 which has a AMD processor - not sure which but its very low end and am looking forward to seeing the results when I upgrade to an i5. The box itself is silent and unobtrusive (once you've turned off the bling lights in settings). I bought a HDMI to component video converter off ebay - HDMI in one end and component out the other and into the Hoppo, then its USB to the PC - simples. Doesn't a ppear to be much to go wrong so I'm looking forward to many years of use from this device.
