Cheaply made Chinese shoes that don't fit correctly
I buy NB for my back and I learned that you need to not buy their shoes made in China. Instead get the ones made in Thailand, Indonesia, or USA (Usa will be pricey)The shoe has improperly structure arches and smashed my foot. I don't have a wide foot and my NB 608 and 550 both have standard width. This shoe was just poorly made.

Finally...happy feet!
When it comes to gym shoes I've worn size 15 Nike basketball shoes exclusively for 20+ years. I could always order any Nike in size 15 and they would fit great. Well, as of the last 5+ years, everytime I ordered new Nike shoes they didn't fit well at all. The toe box was too tight. I suffered through thinking I just had to break them in. Nope, my toes were just uncomfy (squished)the whole time. The last pair I got the toes were worse then ever! I thought I was just going to toss them out. After reading reviews for these shoes and how they fit and everything else I decided to try them. First, the price was great! Throw in Free shipping and Free returns I figured I had nothing to lose. So, they just came in a few days ago. I was THRILLED that they fit awesomely right out of the box! The first time in years my foot was comfy in athletic shoes. The whole shoe fits great! I wore them to the gym and did my routine which is mostly lifting weights but also doing the treadmill and bike and some running and jumping...all on different surfaces (carpet, rubber mat, tile, hardwood). These shoes were great! They look very good, fit really good, the price was really good...great VALUE! I saved a lot with Amazon...as usual! I will also use these shoes for just casual purposes, tennis, and light running. I think they'd be ok for the occassional pick-up basketball game too. I'm a little suspect of the low top for regualr basketball play so I figured these fit so well that I went ahead and ordered the BB907 basketball shoes. I got them in blk/white for only $68 including free shipping and NO tax. Those shoes cost $110-$120 everywhere else. if they fit as well as my 608V3 I'll be in shoe heaven!! New Balance is my new shoe company!! Love them so far and I'm really happy to finally have comfortable athletic shoes! Thanks NB... <3

Satisfied Customer
I've been buying New Balance sneakers for three years now. Was buying 623s for a while, then last time I tried out the 409s because they were a little cheaper. Now I'm bumping over to these 608s, again for price. I wear these shoes daily. They're my every day shoes both on and off work. I wear them doing light to medium construction work, like painting or flooring, and throw on the boots when I'm doing heavier stuff like framing or concrete work. Anyway, the first couple pairs of 623s were excellent, lasting 8 months of constant use. But then somehow they seemed to wear out quicker, as tho NB lessened the formula of how they manufacture them. The last two pairs I bought only lasted six months. The 409s blew out quickest of them all. About four months. These 608s seem to be holding up well so far. We'll see how they're doing in six months or so. The way I abuse sneakers, I think a pair every six months is fair. I bought a pair of Nike Air once and only once. The seams blew out in under a month. Since switching to NB, I've been more than happy with both comfort and last and I'll continue buying them. Oddly, the first pair I bought was made in the USA, and that was a big selling point for me. I was boasting to everyone that NBs were manufactured domestically. But since then, I haven't been able to find an American-made pair. Which is truly unfortunate.

Great shoe, good fit for those of us with wide feet.
I've worn this model before. I too preferred the previous model, but not by such a margin as some of the other reviewers. I bought my last pair locally and they are finally worn out after a year and a half of almost daily wear. I did have a problem with the lace loop pulling out when I bought that (local) pair but New Balance drop shipped me a replacement and it's been fine. I agree this is a dumb design compared to the traditional eyelets, but NB is not unique in this regard. I have a pair of Nikes with the same sort of loops.Because I have wide feet with a high instep I have trouble finding shoes that fit and would not normally order without trying on but decided the same model by the same company should fit the same, and they do.Soles are not THAT slippery. They're not the grippiest but certainly no problem in ordinary walking even on tile. Firmer material probably means longer wearing.Laces should be longer, and my locally bought copy of the same model a year ago ARE longer - but those are white and I got black this time. Again, I've seen the same thing in other brands but we should get enough lace to tie the things without extremely nimble fingers!Overall though a great shoe and good value for the money.

Almost the same as the NB 609 Cross Trainer
For many years, I've been a big fan of the New Balance 609 Cross Trainer, a very similar shoe which I believe is made by NB only for one of the big footwear chain stores--a famous one if you take my drift--and not available on Amazom. I bought the 608 on Amazon as a replacement because it was very well priced. Got it today and am very happy with my purchase. The shoe is very similar to the 609 and appears to be manufactured to fit the same. I was very happy with this because the fit was one of the things I really liked about the 609 compared to other NB shoes as well as those made by other manufacturers. The one, minor difference between the 608 and the 609 is that the footbed in the 608 is a bit firmer (less resilient) than the 609. I regard this as a small downside and I suppose some might even find it to be a small advantage. Except for this, I'd give this shoe 5 (or 6!!) stars. The shoe works for me both as a street shoe which I will wear alot on weekends and as a cross trainer I will wear for my workouts at the gym (jogging on a treadmill and also working on an elliptical machine.

Great fit, slow delivery
As I've very wide feet, it's hard to find shoes that fit well. These fit perfectly, very comfortable and fashionable too. Only downsides are that the colour dulls if you get caught in the rain so best use some protective stuff on them or don't take them out in the rain, and also they are shipped from the USA so took over a month to arrive. Why can't they just sell these in the UK?
