A must have if you use a smoker
These are a must-have item if you use a smoker and need to pick up, or move food without burning your hands. I've also found them to be very helpful when shredding pork (for pulled pork). Makes the process much easier and comfortable. Also works well when not using the BBQ for things such pulling meat off of bones when making soup, or shredding boiled chicken. You do need to exercise some care -- the gloves can be slippery when dealing with hot food, especially if it is greasy. The gloves are made of a thick, heat resistant material that works very well for handling food. They are NOT, however, meant for high temperature uses, such as taking a metal pan out of a hot oven. Think of them as potholders for food items - something to keep your hands from burning when handling hot food. The fingers are a bit stiff, but allow for decent mobility. I had no problems holding a knife or using a fork to pull pork while wearing them. They extend well up your forearms to keep grease splatters at bay (they are about 13.5 inches from fingertip to bottom edge). Easy to wash. I've only used them a few times so far, so I can't attest to how long they will last, but they seem pretty sturdy, and should last for some time provided they are cared for.I take a mens size XL glove, and these fit fine (a bit snug, but very workable).Very good price - much less expensive than other hot food handling gloves I've seen. Highly recommend.Update: June 2011 -- been using these for a few months and continue to be very impressed. I've been able to hand carry items from the smoker into the house (a few minute journey) without any problem. Hands get a bit warm but not at all uncomfortable. Washing them is a breeze -- just keep them on your hands, squirt on some dish soap, and wash your "hands." No problems with durability as of yet.

Extremely durable!
I purchased these gloves 12 years ago and they are still in great condition. They are not form fitting, they are oversized. I also purchased these gloves because it was recommended, and it was my first time deep frying a turkey. But had I known what I know now, I wouldn’t have purchased them. The reason why they have lasted so long is because they are rarely used. But as a beginner, they got me through.

Work great... cause cancer in CA?
These gloves work very very well. I fried a turkey this weekend and had no good way to remove the turkey. We scooped the turkey up with a spatula, i reached down and grabbed it with these gloves. I did start to feel some warmth coming through but, not before I was in the kitchen. I then used them to carve the turkey and that worked out fantastically well.I did notice on the label that the gloves contain a chemical known in the state of California to cause cancer or birth defects. Not 100% sure what that is. Hopefully it's just hyper-crazy CA being overly cautious.

These gloves are the bomb!!
I purchased these Butterball Carving Gloves for my husband when I bought his electric indoor turkey fryer. These gloves work great! They are pliabe enough that you can grip small items (such as the temp control knob) yet they do a great job protecting your hands from heat and splattering grease. My husband has large hands and beefy arms, yet these gloves fit him and came halfway up his forearm, so even when he reaches to the back of the grill or inside his turkey fryer, his arms are still protected. Great product that I would highly recommend!

Works great for handling hot meats, baked potatoes or other hot foods. Not a substitute for an oven mitt!
Love these. I smoke a lot of meats and these are invaluable for removing hot meats from the smoker. Also great for holding onto that hot turkey from the oven for slicing. These are NOT intended to handle hot pans or substitute as an oven mitt as the high temps will melt right through and burn your hand.

Dissapointed
These gloves showed up with a tear at the curve on one of the thumbs. So juicy liquids were soaked right into the gloves inner lining if the thumb happened to touch something wet. After a bit of digging I looked at the silicone grill glove here on amazon but that also had user complaints about dexterity as the glove is a right or left hand generic fit and looks pretty thick. I then seen a user posted about the MAPA Temp-Tec NL5 gloves, those gloves are high heat resistant up to 480 degrees, look much more flexible, but aren't available on amazon. I found them on ebay for $26 plus 5$ shipping. They look to be the perfect glove for my BBQ needs, touching food and lifting food off the grill.Good luck.

Great gloves for use with the Butterball Turkey Fryer
Great gloves! Bought these with my Butterball Turkey Fryer. Made handling the hot bird easy when removing from the frying basket, positioning on the platter, prepping for carving, etc. Well made, durable. I'm a big guy at 6'2" and these fit my hands well. Easy to clean by just "washing my hands" with soap and hot water while wearing the gloves. Good purchase.

Never to Hot to Handle
The gloves work really well, they fit great and when using them and handling hot foods from my smoker the preformed perfect.I thought the price was fair and like to support Masterbulit and their products. If you smoke food and need to handle it ie like pulled pork or ribs etc then you need a pair of these gloves. You can't go wrong with them and I have had others and this product is better made and worked so much better.
