Looking for better results? An improved root system? Try UGro! Coconut Coir is a 100% natural by-product of harvesting coconut. Coir consists of the coarse fibers extracted from the husk on the outer shell of a coconut. Because of its superior water holding capacity, excellent air space and drainage, coir is a useful soil amendment for potted plants, containers and gardens. Coir is a sustainable alternative to peat moss - it does not produce the same environmental damage caused by peat mining and grows quickly for harvest. In addition, coir is easier to hydrate and lasts longer in soil than peat moss. Coir's neutral pH of 5.5-6.5 allows it to efficiently release nutrients to plant roots and reduces the need to use dolomite lime in the garden. Our traditional coir has been enriched with endomycorrhizas. Thanks to a symbiotic association with the roots, endomycorrhizal fungi can provide extra nutrients and moisture to the plants. They grow as thin filaments that penetrate cell walls, thus forming an extension of the plant root system. They also improve the plants ability to tolerate diseases and pests. This is a growing bag, holding a 500 gram block of dehydrated coconut substrate. The bag has small punched holes in its base to facilitate drainage and it has been treated in order to achieve an excellent UV stability. With 1,8 litres of water, it yields up to 4 litres of high quality cocopeat. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Perfect for permanent and long-term crops.
