CHAUVET DJ 4PLAY 2-in-1 Adjustable LED Beam Projecting Effect Light

Just got my 4 play in today, wow that Amazon gets the product here fast, 2 days with my Prime account. Unit came in Amazon box, then Chauvet shipping box and product box, nicely packaged.Maybe I didn't read the specs, but while the control bar is a thin metal, the lights are plastic. Overall weight is minimal. Attaching it to my standard light pole was a snap, it clicks right on, even comes with a tightening knob. It comes preassembled, everything is connected but at first you're going to think this is only a dmx unit because the instruction sheet, all six pages of it, refer mostly to dmx operation. However, it can be addressed to be sound active and run through some automatic programs, about 16 in all I think.At first the the unit did not work for me, the instruction sheet said it was ready to go out of the box (wrong) but after some experimentation with the four dip switches on the lights themselves and addressing the simple led control function on the bar, I got my lights flashing just fine. And for the most part, that's all they do. Just flash.I would say that the speed control in the automatic mode is too wide of a range. It goes from 1 to 100. To get a decent flashing mode, I set mine on 95 in the automatic stand alone mode. But the patterns are fairly basic and be aware, mostly rgb colored circles, some all reds, all greens and all blues. Some 3 dot all colored triangles, then back to the beginning. Don't know if I was supposed to or not, but I set light one and light three on dip switch position 4 with th eother three dips 1,2 & 3 off and this gave me a light flashing pattern where 1 and 3 flashed opposite to 2 and 4. A different effect.This light was not what I expected after watching the you tube videos. Maybe those demos use the dmx addressing. I'll keep the light, it was inexpensive here on Amazon, but I had hoped for metal all the way. I'll have to pack this carefully each time.Because of the small learning curve and the plastic cases, I'll give it four stars.

I'm on my third set of these lights. When they work, they are impressive. They get this weird issue just after a year old where they will just stop working. The self test may light them initially, but they throw controller errors while in SND mode. Really expected them to last more than a year. I've sent an email to their support, but waiting to hear back.

The Chauvet 4Play work exactly as advertised, and the folks who come to my karaoke shows enjoy the extra touch provided by the rhythmically pumping lights.The major flaw I mentioned, however, is that the "case" is garbage. Chauvet (and other some other manufacturers, too) need to stop skimping on the materials used to make their carrying cases.Within two weeks of use, the case for the 4Play had begun to come apart at the seams, and within a month of that, both pull tabs on the zippers had gone off track and continue to do so no matter how many times I attempt to repair them.Unless you can sew, plan on paying someone to replace the zipper with one of higher quality- and stitch up the seams for you, making this item less a bargain than it should be, given how well the lights work. If fact, knowing what I know now- I would've had that done straight out of the box.

The 4play is definately a fun, quality product for the price. I'm an amateur DJ without a DMX controller to take advantage of that feature of that feature. However, its sound-active mode is more than sufficient for any casual gig, and it's wide sound sensitivity range ensures its able to coordinate with other components of your setup. The LEDs are easily enough to project over 50 feet in even a moderately light room (although to get the full effect, dark + fog machine is obviously ideal.) The unit itself is heavy enough to feel substantial but light enough to be easy to transport and mount.As a warning, the hole in the center is too wide to mount on the vertical pole of the  Eliminator Lighting Lighting Stands Tri32 Stage Light Accessory  stand, even with the plate screwed in as tightly as possible. I wedge a fold-up piece of cardboard in to stabilize it since I have a laser and fog machine on the crossbar.Although I've only had the 4Play for about a month (and thus, can't testify to its long-term durability), I have been extremely pleased with my purchase overall. The shipping was prompt and it arrived in good shape complete with all the parts.

I am just starting a mobile dj and lighting business, my sound package is all set. Lighting is important to me so I did lots of research and have purchased quite a few lights thus far. Of all the new lights I have received by different manufacturers, this light by far is my favorite effect. The LED light is very bright and vibrant and the sound active mode by itself is great. The flexibility you get from having cans that can be positioned to project on walls, ceilings and the dance floor is just awesome! I would highly recommend this to any mobile performer, I am very happy with my decision to purchase this light effect!

This is a replacement for the first one I ordered which arrived damaged. This one is going back because it was also received damaged.First of all, they look like repacks. On the first one I received, one of the end lights was split in the middle and it's bracket was bent. The replacement was even worse. This time, the two end brackets holding the lights were bent. In addition, the lenses of all the lights had a film on them. I tried to clean the outside but noticed that it's also on the inside of the glass as well. It looks like someone may have previously owned these lights and used them with a fog machine, hence the film. Finally, there is a big scratch on the front of the bar where across the Chauvet logo. Like I said, this is my second and final one. It appears that these are NOT new. I will be sending this one back and I'm done with it.

Used it for the first time last week. The customers loved it, we loved it, great performance for the money. So good that it has made me invest in a Chauvet Obey 10 controller so that we can really add to the bells and whistles, though it works perfectly well for most applications on the auto/sound activated settings without a controller.

Excellent lightweight lighting show. After seeing some videos of these on-line, I bought a pair of them and they really light up a venue. They will need to be looked after because they are plastic and a bit flimsy but with care they should last many years. Easy to understand and set up, you can have a great show going within 5 minutes of unpacking. My first LED type of light and I am very impressed with the "bang for buck" value.

Superb value for money. Great lighting show in small package and includes carry bag. Suitable for small to medium disco or party.
