Q: Is it really made from stainless steel and not aluminum?

The part that matters (the removable inner pot) is stainless steel. The outside looks like every other appliance; like a brushed stainless.

Q: what is the highest temperature can this kettle reach? Can the lid be removed for cleaning?

It does boil the water then hold at an ideal "Tea" temperature for several hours. (It has a quick re-boil feature) You nab Air Pot Pump or use a continuous pour method. Yes the lid can be removed.

Q: Does this have a non-stick coating? Also, does any water come into contact with plastic?

There us no non-stick coating on this appliance. As for contact with plastic, as the spout is plastic I'd say yes.
