Check to make sure you receive al unflavored.
I purchase this item every few months for my 3 year old who has food allergies. I never have an issue until this last shipment that I had sent to my inlaws. I usually check all my shipments but this one was out of state out of mind until we needed some while in town. I did not realize that the box had already been opened and 2 vanilla flavored cans were in the back of the box instead of them all being the unflavored. And of course we didn't notice until we had finished 3 of the 6 cans. Now I have to purchase again and I have 2 cans of vanilla that he won't drink. And one of them we opened for him to try it. An expensive lesson learned.

My son is allergic to dairy, nuts, eggs ...
My son is allergic to dairy, nuts, eggs, and oddly sesame and chicken. He was breast fed for a while but his eczema couldn't be explained. I decided to stop breastfeeding and switched to Elecare at 6 months (cheaper than Neocate and doesn't smell as awful). I switched to Elecare Jr. at a year and his eczema is very manageable another year and a half later. Perhaps if I had discovered all his allergies earlier and eliminated them from MY diet, I'd still be breastfeeding. But this was a literal lifesaver since the breaks in his skin landed him in the hospital.

This is expensive and not something you opt for unless medically necessary. My daughter was on Similac and switched to this brand with only moderate difficulty (she is special needs and very sensitive). Switching to this assisted my daughter's doctors in discovering that not only did she have a sensitivity to dairy but she also has celiac disease. I'm thankful there is actually a non-diary, non-soy formula, and that amazon has it for a more reasonable price!

Elecare Jr. is the best for us
The only safe toddler formula for my child. He can’t tolerate any nut milks yet due to allergies. Great experience with price and shipping with this seller!

Elecare Jr-If your child needs it-it is a Blessing
Natural Transition to Elecare Jr, when she reached toddler stage. Unfortunately, because of her GI issues & her very picky eating she is very low weight. Traditional dairy and soy alternatives for Toddlers like Almond Milk, Hemp Milk or Coconut Milk don't provide enough fat and calories for her, so we have had to stick with Elecare Jr.The down side is the stuff smell awful. My daughter will only drink it out of a bottle and at 2.5 that is not great. Her pediatric allergist told us that most of the toddlers she sees will only take elecare or elecare jr out of a bottle because of the smell. We are in the process of weaning out the # of bottles she gets, but it is a tough balance to maintain. Oh and hands down this was a better alternative for her than the competitor (can't remember the name). She wouldn't touch the other stuff. As long as she needs the extra calories, we'll be sticking with Elecare Jr and buying it on Amazon, they have the best prices around, we'd never be able to afford it other wise.

Great deal for the price
I received the cans unopened with expiration date may2018 on all of the cans. It's a very good deal considering you usually have to order this formula from a pharmacy and it cost about $54 for one 14 oz can, which is insane. My daughter is fed via g tube so unflavored works for us. BUT if your child feeds by mouth I would definitely suggest the vanilla flavor!
