Bag included to store everything in
This outdoor exploration set was a great buy for my younger son. He's very interested in bugs lol. This set had everything he needed to go outside in the dirt with. The bag is nice to carry everything in also.

Expected it to be a little different
I bought this for my 3 yr old granddaughter for Christmas and for some reason I expected something more. Can't really explain what the more is that I expected because I received exactly what is shown in the pictures. So yes the item is as described. Quality? Okay but not great vs. the price. Will my granddaughter like it? She's 3 she loves anything new. Would I buy it again? I don't think so.

Never expected this would be such a HUGE hit!
Was a present for our youngest son 6 yrs old he loves it. He wanted a telescope but since I wasn't convinced that his interest would hold or how careful he would be with a telescope; I wasn't willing to spend that amount of money on an item that would just collect dust. Even a cheap one for kids is at least 5 times the cost of this item and they really don't have much power.Figured we'd start with this little kit with binoculars instead of telescope and see if it captured his interest as much as he thought and judge how well he took care with an item that would break if he didn't.Was a far far bigger hit then I expected. He takes it with him everytime we go outside to play and actually likes it so much he is careful to make sure he puts all the parts back in his bag. He hasn't left anything behind or lost one piece of this set...unheard of!!Would recommend for any young explorer who likes adventures. I'd say this would be good for kids up to 7 or 8 yrs old depending on child. Can't go wrong for price it well exceeded my expectations. Was worth far more than the cost.He might just get that telescope for his birthday this spring :)

Good for kids!
Okay, here's the breakdown.Binocs: great for my 4 and 7 year old, who previously had a very expensive pair (they were lost on a flood). These seem just as awesome to him, and as a bonus, they also have a compass on the hinge part, and do come with a neck lanyard. They're enough for a kid with previous experience, so they're probably fine for a kid with no previous experience.Flashlight: I think it's comparable, weight wise, how it feels in your hand, to probably a $5 battery powered flashlight. But it's squeeze powered! Super fun. Probably will retire to my purse.Compass: It works. Points north. Plus there's a little magnifying glass on it, for some reason. It's a copy of an engineers compass, apparently. Husband says it's too easily swayed by magnets, which son thinks is part of the fun!Magnifying glass: son loves it's portability. I like that it's one piece, no frame to break.Bag: not so happy with this. Son gets tangled up in the strings. Count on having to help most of the time if your child can't tie their shoes yet.Overall, totally happy with it. You can't spend $20 on something like this and expect each item to be super high quality. But these are good quality. Son is 4 and 7 and I think he'll still be using these when he's ten.
