Really stands up to cat claws!
This really holds up! I replaced the screens that my cats had torn to shreds. It's been over a year and there is not one pull in the mesh. There are no rips or snags and I have 3 cats who consistently scratch! I highly recommend this replacement screen!

Works great to replace the screen in the storm door.
Great kit.

Does the job!
The media could not be loaded. I had to go shopping and find thicker spline than what came with this or the tool kit I ordered. Ended up needing 0.21” spline. It is pretty tough to roll into the frame because of the thickness and toughness of the screen, which is to be expected. I must say that so far my cat is unimpressed, but I’m rather happy, hopefully it holds up as I just installed it today

Great product… I’ve made MANY screens over the years for my custom door company and this product by far is the best one on the market!

Difficult to install at first but gets easier
PROS: This combo kit was less expensive than getting the screen, spline tool, and spline separately. The screen is strong.Cutting the excess off was easier than I thought.CONS: Like others have said, jamming the spline in the track is a bit difficult.***Due to the thickness of the screen, visibility is slightly reduced and the outside world looks a bit darker. It wasn't as bad as I thought though.***My technique: I laid the screen on top of the empty frame. There was about 3-4 inches of excess screen overhang. At first I tried to completely set the spline into the track starting at the end and proceeded inch by inch. This was very difficult and I almost gave up after seeing how long this was going to take. Instead, with my left hand I held about 5 inches of the spline over the track and held the screen in place with the same hand. With my right hand I took the spline tool and ran it over the same (2') area of spline in a zig-zag motion, back and forth on the same spot, like your cutting a piece of steak. The spline would then gradually start to sink into the track. This went much quicker. I used a flat-head screw driver to get the spline in the corners. It took about 25-30 minutes to complete the process. I used a utility knife with a fresh blade and ran it along the track on an angle right above the spline. One positive thing about the spline being so difficult to get into the track is that the screen is held very securely and will take a lot to pop out.Be sure to:Gauge that the screen installs straight. It's easy to get the screen to install on an angle. Some backtracking might be necessary.Don't worry about a loose floppy screen until you get to the 3rd side. You can then keep the screen taught while inserting the spline. Mine's as tight as a tiger.Watch your finger as you are inserting the spline. The spline tool can easily slip off the spline and run into your hand. The spline tool has different ends. One side has a concave disc which helps in keeping it on the spline.I used the other end when I was all done to go around the screen and make sure the spline was fully set around the whole thing.

Great Kit
I was pleasantly surprised when I got my kit yesterday. I was expecting a plastic spline tool so I had ordered a $5 wood and metal one. This kit did come with a wood and metal one though- and it is better than the one I bought. The one I bought has a little bit of wobble to the wheels (as I expected from the reviews, it would still do the job) but the one from this kit is solid. Better to have two spline tools than none, I know this from experience. The spline size is perfect for me, it's exactly the same size as the original spline, I don't think it's fair some other reviewers gave a lower rating because their particular spline needs were different. My kitten tore up my original screen and popped the screen out as he made his great escape. I'm confident from reading the reviews of this product and feeling the quality that the popping out will be my only worry, this thing is not tearing. As this screen is much thicker than the original one the spline is wedged in much tighter. I'm hoping this means it will be harder to pop out. I don't know what good it will do me, but I bought some really cute duct tape and I left a bit of excess screen which I've taped to the frame. I probably haven't prevented my little kittie from popping the screen out, but maybe the tape will stop him from escaping again.Edit- 4 months later: Screen is perfect and it hasn't popped out!! My kitteh is trapped!
