This "made in USA" product is robust. The chrome metal hinges are heavy duty and the wood seat and seat back are solid with a nice heft. A feature that was not clear to me in the sales information is that the seat back can be easily taken off for cleaning or whatever leaving the seat in place. Just twist the two top chrome covers counter-clockwise about 30 degrees and lift straight up. Twist clockwise to latch back in place. Handy. For initial installation, install the seat first with the included hardware, then attach the back with the twist covers. The diagram/pictures in the included instructions no not exactly match the actual unit but it is close enough to figured out. Both seat and seat back close gently either individually or together. No slamming.The elongated seat matches my elongated American Standard toilet just fine.I did have a problem with one hinge and the factory customer support supplied a new piece over the phone without question. I studied all the reviews and found some great, and some not happy with this Church wooden soft close seat.I have used it now for 6 months and it is great!!! No squeaks, cracks or problems!The quality is suberb. I love the old fashioned wooden sturdy feel. The white is a good pure white to match my white Kohler porcelin bowl.It was very easy to install, it is as quiet as ever as it closes with the touch of a finger. There is no problem manually tilting the seats (rim and lid) to move faster if it has been left open. (of course this review is written by the woman in the house:)Install Tips: tighten self-tightening plastic screw bolts just until hand firm, otherwise, the tip will break off-not a hinderance, but who wants less than what you get.Buying Tips: Also, once you have picked the coordinating color of your seat for your toilet porcelin, double check you have ordered the matching metal hindge for your existing toilet hardware. This seat comes in shiny chrome Church 18170CHSL 000 and brush nickel Church 18170NISL 000. I had accidently ordered the nickel and was able to return it toute suite ( very fast) without delay or lost $$$ in shipping. Thanks to Amazon.Amazon sent this product quickly and packaged it well.

I purchased this toilet seat just a few months ago and the plastic piece in the hinge where the bolt goes through broke. I've installed dozens of other brand name seats at our plant and all still work fine. Some are 3 years old!! I purchased this high dollar Church seat for the office because I knew customers would be using it. And what happens? It breaks!! Worst $70 toilet seat ever!

We love these toilet seats, have them in both our baths. We replaced the master seat, after years of service, because it was exposed to chemicals not designed for cleaning. Otherwise, it would still be in service.We love the soft, slow close. They are strong and comfortable, easy to clean.

I thought this would look more traditional on my Kohler Revival Toilet...but it's more modern with the dip in the seat. So, I moved it to a American Standard toilet. It seems like a lot to spend on a seat but this will last forever...also, if you're trying to sell a home this is an in-expensive way to spruce up the bathrooms...it's the first thing you see...hi gloss and very white...hinges are outstanding. Like another reviewer said you don't have to break off the ends of the tightening nut all the way.

Toilet seat cracked in 8 weeks of use. Had used another Church for 3 years before the seat cracked. Not due to excess wt as <230lbs. Too bad because I find the seat very comfortable & like the feel of the wooden seat much better than the plastic.

The soft close is really impressive (sounds corny, but I really like it). Great enamel finish. Recommended. Wish it didn't cost so much, but it should last.
