Bible Journaling for the Fine Artist: Inspiring Bible journaling techniques and projects to create beautiful faith-based fine art

I purchased this book, and it has been a great book to learn from. I am writing in response to all the negative reviews about this book. Don't listen to them! You must understand that this book was written to "fine artists", not 15 minute crafters. If you are a crafter, not a fine artist, this book will not help you. If you expect to imitate what is in this book in 15 minutes, forget it! That will not happen. This book was written to those who love drawing, painting, and hand lettering, and are constantly trying to improve their skills. This book was written to those who are willing to practice and practice and practice. I am a self-taught artist, and I spend hours pouring over this book, studying the illustrations, carefully reading the instructions, and trying to imitate what I see in this book. I would love to be as good an artist as the authors are.The first few chapters include sections on materials you will need, a few pages on basic drawing instruction, a guide to lettering, how to correct your mistakes, and keeping a daily sketchbook and sketching practice. It also includes a few pages on how to do your Bible journaling on surfaces outside the Bible. (I happen to do my Bible journaling in my sketchbook, not in a Bible.)Then they go on to show you examples and projects for working with colored pencils, watercolor pencils, black drawing pens, watercolor, and acrylic paints. There are some examples of techniques that cross the boundary between craft and art, such as Chalkboard lettering, floral word art, brush pen lettering, stippling, and other pen techniques.I will say this is not a book for beginners and those who have just begun Bible journaling or are new to the idea of fine art. This is for those who have some basic Bible journaling and drawing and painting experience. I've been drawing and painting for a while now, so this book is right up my alley. My favorite parts of this book are the examples and projects that include fine art-level drawing and painting. I hope you can understand this book is trying to reach a different audience than those who are looking for quick 15 minute techniques. If that is what you're looking for, you should look at other books.The artwork in this book is beautiful, and it is a teaching book. But it teaches a higher level of art. I am responding to those reviewers who claim this book was written only to show off the authors' own beautiful art. That is not true. And obviously, this book is for the fine art audience, not a craft-level audience who looks for 15 minutes techniques or projects. Hope this is helpful to potential buyers.

Purchased the book for the subject and price. It turned out to be a really good book. Lots of information and step by step demonstrations. It has lot of great ideas that can I can implement in my journaling. Always on the lookout for inspiration and new directions to take my art. I will get a lot of mileage from this book. Just make it simple, go at your pace and build your skills. I do recommend this book.

Wow! This book is FANTASTIC! It’s beautiful, easy to follow, and so inspiring. I can’t wait to start trying out these techniques! The step by step instructions and tutorials are a great place to start. I could not be more pleased with this book!

This book is beautifully detailed with everything from the basics for a beginner to lovely creative pushes for a more advanced bible art fan. I have enjoyed Melissa’s work for a while. So happy to see this collection come to my door.

This book has beautiful color illustrations, step-by-step instructions, product recommendations, and a large variety of illustration and lettering techniques. I will use a lot of the strategies in my bible journaling journey.

I really love this journalling guide. It has page after page of beautiful art to inspire you on your faith journey and heaps of neat tips and techniques for beginners and more experienced artists alike. I’ve been journalling in and outside my bible for over a year ago and this book is just the fresh breath of inspiration I needed right now to take the leap of faith into my second journalling bible. Thanks to the team who put this gorgeous guide together I have lots more ideas now and Lots of encouragement do I can’t wait to get creating! Highly recommended!!

This is a great book! I wasn't sure as it says fine artist in the title, which made me think it would be too advanced for me as I would not describe myself as a fine artist. I was very wrong, it is a beautiful book which covers so much. There are many step by step ideas and everything is explained in easy to follow steps. I have been following Melissa Fischer on Instagram for a long time, so I knew I had to get this book and it did not disappoint.

This bok description included a kit...the kit part did not arrive.
