Anthropology Before Evangelization
The saint was a true anthropologist before such things were even known. Unable to simply walk up and baptize the indians, 'Eachon' had to study the culture, language, and religion of the natives before even engaging with them on the level theology. He provided the Huron with their first written form of their language. He face constant persecution and threats of death from those who had welcomed him into their world but was undaunted in professing his love for these people. Baptizing only a handful of natives, he remained resolute in his efforts to spread the Gospel. I was amazed at the meticulousness with which these early Jesuits recorded the events in which they were involved. This is a treasure of a book, to be sure.

A Blessing simply to read about this faithful priest!
Interesting book on St de Brebeuf’s life among the Hurons. I also enjoyed the volume by the same author on the life of St Isaac Jogues. Cannot image more heroic acts and suffering for Almighty God and faithfulness to the Holy Catholic Church. Exemplary in every way. These are the men to be held up to our children as heroes. Outstanding in every sense.

Total commitment
A priceless part of American history. This story, told in great detail, reveal the zeal of these mission to live and work with the savage Indians in the Quebec and New York State area of the 1600s. I found the first 30 pages not to interesting but after that it's a book hard to put down.

Excellent Telling.
This book tells of the amazing dedication to both God and man. The true story of the mystic Jesuit Saint, who sacrificed his everything for the native people of North America, and for the greater glory of God. Well written, both entertaining and educational, it's a shame this book is no longer in print. Well worth the read for either the history buff, or the religious.

Thrilling true story of a brave man who be and a martyr and saint.
This book was one of the most exciting books I have ever read. Remarkable in that it was true and still inspiring for Christians and non believers alike. Worth reading and passing along.

The Story of Jesuits Among the Indians
This book tells the tale of the Jesuit missionaries to the Huron Indians in the Seventeenth Century. The story follows the careers of the various ministers from their education in France to their service in North America. It focuses on the religious aspects of the situation-not the political aspects of the rivalry with Protestant British North America.
