Good Value with Issues
The logs arrived in good shape with none broken. I like the fact that they are made in the USA and have a very realistic look. As others have mentioned they seem to give off an odor while burning. I am thinking this will diminish with more burn time and it indeed seems to be the case. Another issue we are having is with the 2cd. tier grate extenders... they do not lock in tight enough and the rear log falls on a regular basis. I have decided to drill a couple small holes in the extenders and wire them to the grate. So we have some issues but still they seem to be a great deal for the price.

Country Split Oak Vented Dual Burner Log Set
We ordered the country split oak log set for our pre-fab fireplace. We live in Southern California so not that we really need the fireplace as a heat source so we were looking for something more for ambiance rather than actual heat production. The log set is pretty nice and was relatively easy to install. We already had a gas line in our fireplace so i just had to remove the burner that was there (it was a smaller older burner) and install the dual burner that came with the log set. Based on measurements i thought the 24 inch set would fit and it did, but it was a very tight fit and on hindsight, i would have gone with the next size down. The log set does come with a lot of extra logs, especially in my case as again, it was a tight fit, so i did not use all the pieces in the diagram but even if you do, you will still have some piece left over. There is a slight hissing sound when you turn on the gas. At first I thought this was due to a bad connection but after multiple attempts to install and multiple leakage checks, I came to the conclusion that it was not a bad connection and just the sound of the gas coming out of the burners. I'm not sure if more expensive units have the same issue. It was not unbearable but it is slightly there until you turn it on and you go about your business, then the sound kind of gets drowned out in the background. All in all, I am happy with my purchase, just that I should have gone a size smaller but I did not want to go through uninstalling it, repacking it, and shipping it back.

So so log set...
As others have observed, the included logs were not well protected. Two of the logs were broken with no visible damage to the shipping box. Also as previously reported, the picture on the website is far more attractive than the actual lit logs. Often it is necessary to make small adjustments to the log layout to get the best flames. Unfortunately after half a dozen rearrangements I gave up trying to get improvement. Perhaps the 30" version of this set has a longer burner offering greater flame surface.

We have a terrific log set that looks great and functions well.
The very heavy box arrived in terrible shape, at least from the outside. However, when I opened and unwrapped all the items there was only minor damage to one of the logs except for the longest and heaviest log. It was cracked in the middle, although it did not come apart. I placed it in the back of the set up on the grate and no one will be the wiser. I thought I could do the installation myself, but the stumbling block was the old pipe and gas lighter bar that defied my best efforts to take apart. I hired a plumber! Since he was already on the scene I asked him to install the new gas burner. He did it in about 20 minutes! My total bill was under one hour of plumber time.As to the logs and subsequent fire, it met all of our expectations. A beautiful fire that radiates heat even with the chimney vent open. The package comes with crushed rock to fill the burner base and enough "embers" to last for a while.

*Warning*
You get what you pay for- the quality of the faux wood is not bad but it's definitely meant for smaller fireplaces and the fire doesn't go through quite like the picture- *Warning*- this should come with a pilot kit- not sure why it's sold without it as it's a crucial part to preventing an explosion!

New one arrived with no issues and husband said it was pretty easy to install
Package arrived broken in several pieces. largest piece was broken in three places and several smaller ones were chipped and/or broken in half. We had to return this 100lb package and order a new one. New one arrived with no issues and husband said it was pretty easy to install.

Much smaller than I had anticipated even using the recommended log size
Much smaller than I had anticipated even using the recommended log size. Also, puts off very little heat. With additional quantities of glowing embers I did get a rather nice looking flame.

Good for the price.
Country Split Oak Vented Dual Burner Log Set for Natural Gas Fireplace, 24-Inch The flames don't look anything like the photo. It was easy to assemble. I had no problem bending the included gas line and I got it to fit quite easily. As others mentioned, one log was broken. I just hid it under another log so I can't see the break. I'm going to try to move the logs around to try for a better flame. Otherwise it appears to be ok. I believe I got what I paid for.
