Good product w rock-solid customer service
A few months ago the cot arrived in time for our son to use it when we had guests staying. It was quick to put together and worked as advertised. The material was a bit too tight when first assembled but loosened adequately (not too much) after the first night of sleeping on it. We then had another occasion to use it this Thanksgiving with more guests in the house. Unfortunately the cot material ripped along one of the sides. It wasn't unusable, just ripped and probably going to get worse with time. I took photos and sent it off to customer service expecting not much to come of it frankly. Within an hour we had a company representative asking for our mailing address in order to mail us a new cot. My reaction was simply Wow. No questions. No accusations. No disclaimers. Just a quick and friendly email asking us how quickly they could make it right. A class act that made me write my first review on Amazon.

Will not fit 3 person tent and difficult to set up
This thing is AWFUL. Do not buy it. Save your money. Worse thing is I can't return it because you only have 30 days to return and I have been out of town and not even able to attempt to return it since I received it. The bars that go across the top and bottom are virtually impossible to put on and if you are not very strong, you may as well give up even trying. My sons den leaders couldn't even get them to go on without a major fight and that was with 2 of them working at it. I also have a 3 person tent and it was too big for it. I had to place it diagonally in the tent and even then the tent was bulging in the spots where the ends were. When I tried putting it at the opening for the door, it stuck out approximately a foot. So it was either have the sides bulging or have my feet hanging out of the tent when it was in the 20's and raining outside. I am very unhappy about the return process being such a small window and I will NOT use this seller again. This is basically trash.

Does not compare to Military Issue
I looked for weeks for a cheap military style cot and eventually went ahead and got this one from Texsport just to try it out. I have literally spent years of my life in many different locales sleeping on genuine US military cots, so in my search I was trying to find something as comparable as possible to my old reliable friend. This is definitely not it.Clearly made in china, this cot is 5 pounds lighter than the standard military cot used today, as well as 3 inches shorter in length, and 2 inches narrower. I knew something wasn't right when my shoulder blades were hitting the bars. It does have a carrying bag, and the ends velcro to make it a little easier to get the cross bars on. Those who have ever had to assemble a highly used military cot know that you usually need another bar or a crow-bar to get that last cross bar in. The max weight is 250, and I believe it. I weigh 200 pounds, and I certainly would not feel comfortable sitting on this thing along with my pack and other items for fear that I might be skewered if this thing were to buckle.Overall, for fifty bucks, you might give this to your kids to go camping twice a year, but if plan on building an underground compound, stockpiling weapons and supplies and waiting for the system to collapse, I would suggest going to e-bay and buying a genuine US issue military cot for around $75.

Excellent, at least for a lightweight person!
This is a great cot!I have rheumatoid arthritis, so I was concerned this may be difficult to set up, and uncomfortable to sleep on. Neither was the case!I find it quite easy to set up, and to fold up again. And I slept better on this cot than on my own bed at home!Other reviewers lament that it is too tight when assembling it. That is sometimes true, which is why one end of the mat is Velcro. Simply separate the Velcro closure, and readjust to loosen it. Then you can more easily attach the second bar. Some reviewers remark about one bar being longer than the other, and the hole isn't at the end of the bar. ***One of the end bars is intentionally longer, and has the hole drilled further from the end than the other holes on the end bars. This extra length provides the user with something to grab when attaching the second end bar, to give you leverage and avoid pinching your fingers.***Some find it is too firm. Yes, it's a cot, not a bed. If it's too firm for you, I recommend that you use a Thermarest (or other brand) sleeping pad on it. Even though I have arthritic shoulders, I slept peacefully on this cot, once I added two sleeping pads.Other reviewers note that it is narrow, and not as long as desired. Again, yet, it's a cot, not a twin-size bed. You can expect it to be narrow, and not overly long. I understand that may be uncomfortable for many people, but I am side sleeper, and with the benefit of the sleeping pads, I wasn't bothered by it being too narrow. I sometimes experienced a little discomfort from the side bars, but was able to adjust my body position to eliminate the discomfort. Finally, some have noted that the stitching fails. Despite using this for 6 weeks this summer, I have noticed absolutely no problems with the stitching. Perhaps quality control missed a batch, or something. I hope the stitching problem doesn't affect all their cots.Despite my arthritic shoulders, I found this comfortable to sleep on and easy to set up and fold up. Note that I used two Thermarest sleeping pads, though. However, large people may have a tougher time getting comfortable. If you are taller, heavier, or wider than I am, you may have issues. In summary, I heartily recommend this cot for people shorter than 6 feet and under 150 lbs, with the proviso that you use a sleeping pad or two if you want more cushioning. Larger people may find it works well too, but I can't tell you for sure.
