Excellent Product!
I love it! This is a replacement as my original Rotodent was not charging very well after using it for close to 20 years twice a day. I have had periodontal disease and lost quite a few teeth. I'm convinced that I would be toothless now if my dentist hadn't recommended the Rotodent many years ago. I use the long brush as I have large spaces between the teeth. This is a wonderful tool, especially for anyone with periodontal issues as it gives the gums a good massage as well as cleaning in the crevices. Well worth the $$.

Works great - for about a year.
Sadly, this product is designed to fail after a period of time. This is to force you to buy a new one. Poor design, poor battery life. I've had 3, and they all suffered from the same poor quality. Make no mistake. it's intentional. They want you too have to buy a new one every year or so, or they wouldnt have made them so poorly (they are NOT waterproof). For the money you spend on this, you expect to get better quality than the average electric toothbrush you can go buy at walmart. This product is sold direct from dentists to drive up the cost and give the appearance of quality (I'm sure there's no kickbacks, eh?). Sad. Save your money, go buy a water pick, or anything else for that matter.

Rotodent Fan but this new one is made cheaply
I have used a Rotodent for 20 years. I love it. I ordered the Classic and was sent the new model instead. The seller would not answer the phone or return calls for 2 weeks. I decided to just keep it as my last one had died and I needed a Rotodent. This new one has plastic components on the inside and feels cheap when it's running. The handle doesn't fit into the charger well. You have to fiddle with it until it hits an exact angle to make the light come on and charge. I think this one isn't going to last long which is a shame since it was $175.

Pictures
The Zila Rotadent toothbrush is fantastic. It is the 2nd one I've owned. The problem is, the picture which showed a tooth brush with a stand. It was on pg 1. Page 2 showed the brush head with info 1 power brush handle, 2 brush heads(does not indicate that the 2nd brush head is a different style and a charger was also included. It did not indicate that the charger is in the handle). It does not indicate that there is no warranty because it was purchased from a source other than Zila or a dentist's office. Outside of that, The toothbrush is the BEST on the market.

Rotadent electric toothbrush
This is the test electric toothbrush I know, far superior to anything you can buy in a local pharmacy - they can be brutal - and indispensable to fight gum disease. The first one I had was recommended by a periodontist and the next time I saw my regular dentist he remarked on how much better my gums looked - I was glose to getting gum disease but this toothbrush prevented it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because its battery does quit after a couple of years, and replacing it isn't cheap, but that's how things are built these days, and if the product saves you teeth & money, that's a bargain hard to beat. Not sold in stores REALLY TRUE in this case, only online from the manufacturer or your periodontist, but I'm happy dealing with Zila. Warning: IT TICKLES WHEN YOU FIRST USE IT. Now that's a laugh line, but seriously, folks, this is a good product.

Best design, ruined by latter day execution.
I first bought this through my dentist 25 years ago. Since then the company was bought by gila and quality immediately went down. I kept my old Rotadent classic for about 20 years. Thenis stopped keeping a charge for as long. So I got a new one and it lost is's charge after a few years and the heads didn't fit as well. The blue heads felt too rough so I went back to the old one. It is fine, but as before it won't hold the charge long. As the reviews saY THIS IS THE BEST DESIGNED PRODUCT ON THE MARKET. and the most effective for cleaning at the gum line. No more need for destist to scrape at the pockets. There are none. It makes me so mad that the little Arkansas (or Alabama?) business with great product, and great suvice was bought and ruined by careless people.Soul I try the "Contour" or is it junk?

So far so good--It's lasted 9 months so far
After reading the reviews on the Zila Prodentec Rotadent Classic electric toothbrush, I bought it with some concerns about durability. The Zila's motor makes an out-of-tune kind of sound rather than a smooth hum. However, I've now had it for nine months, and it's still working fine. I trust that it has the same cleaning power as Rotadent before purchase by Zila. The Rotadent (before Zila bought it) was first recommended to me by my incredible dentist. I've used Rotadent for years. You have to keep the handle dry, and toothpaste kills it within a few months. Even so, they last a year or two at most. However my teeth have been healthier with less plaque and decay since using Rotadent. As I don't put toothpaste on the Rotadent, after using it, I put plaque-preventing and enamel-building toothpaste (Sensadyne Pronamel) on a soft toothbrush and brush all over my teeth, mouth, and tongue. I also floss before the Rotadent. My teeth have been prone to decay in the past, but this combination after each meal has totally ended decay problems and also greatly decreased plaque.

They Don't hold A Charge
I had a Rodadent before I bought this one and it worked well in keeping my gums healthy. It lasted for over ten years but the tip finally wouldn't stay attached so I ordered the model sold here. The old one was no longer available. This model lasted only a few months. The battery held a charge for less time each time I used it. Finally, it lost its charge by the time I finished brushing. The brush would stop turning when I applied more than a feather pressure to my gums so, unlike with my first toothbrush, I couldn't clean my gums. Amazon refunded my money and I decided to try one more time with the Rotadent, hoping I would get a nondefective one. It worked well until it needed its first charge. After charging it brushed half of my teeth, then stopped. Recharging did no good. Again, Amazon is refunding my money, even though I'm past the refund period. Thank you, Amazon. Never again. This toothbrush is a dud, in my experience. Save your money and buy another model.
