I have to tell you I was VERY skeptical of the Recon tourniquets when my dad told me about these. I had been researching different styles and going to buy the SOFT-T wide when he sent me the link for the Recon Medical Tourniquet. When I started researching Recon products I was skeptical. How good can it be for only $16? Gotta be a fake, right? I work in the medical field and know well there's a lot of cheap, knock-off crap out there. I have a low tolerance for garbage products whose failure could cost a life, especially because there are some sellers here on Amazon that sell under the guise of "quality products" when it clearly is not. My dad ordered what he THOUGHT was legit Recon stuff but, instead, was sold by some dude that probably got a bulk discount on knock-offs and sells them cheap out of his garage. It was NOT legit and had the resin (probably plastic) windlass instead of Recon's Aluminum version. Not only that but it SHIPPED from China (probably a clear sign to most but he's 82 so I cut him some slack and just listened to his rants afterward LOL)I read A LOT of reviews and after finding the review about the guy in Glacier Park who, along with some other strangers, used one of the Recon Medical Tourniquets to pull a lady out of a crevasse she'd fallen into, I was sold! Apparently they opened it up and she grabbed onto the end with the hole and they pulled her out. WHAT?? THAT is serious quality. I ordered 2 of these right after.The stitching is clean with no loose ends and the whole thing feels sturdy. It has Kevlar stitching for strength and the windlass is an aluminum tube. Yep, a tube. Round with a hollow center to reduce weight but still REALLY stout with a knurling for a really nice grip surface that will work great with bloody hands or gloves. I applied this thing to my arm and after about 2.5 turns I felt like my hand was going to pop off and there was no distal pulse. Perfect.These are truly an alternative to other offerings out there because these are really nice, well-made, legit quality products at a stellar price point! Thank you RECON MEDICAL! This TQ is a CAT killer. Half the price, product quality meets or exceeds that of the NAR CAT TQ. Arrived in a timely manner product was as described very good construction . I purchase 2 of these which works very well with the CVTQ2990T Tourniquet & Tactical Sheath. I work as a Professional White Water Guide and as a trip leader I carry the EMK I like to refer to it as the " Black Box " we are not required to have a Tourniquet in the " Black Box " I'm very old school and in my mind you can never have to many med supplies if you can carry it easily and have no fear of it coming off of my PFD - in a word - Superior - L.E.Meador

Seems like a well made tourniquet.I've looked at alot of supposed CAT tourniquets on Amazon, they all seem like cheap knock offs.Don't cheap out on gear that is literally life or death!This isn't a genuine CAT, but it does feel like a high quality clone.I put it on my arm and was only barely able to get three twists of the windless, thats a good sign.

Although I have NOT used this in the field... Yet, I will say that the construction and quality are solid. I was able to cinch this down easily and get it very tight. I might have got 1/2 to a full turn on the windlass before shutting down the distal pulse. On the surface I have no qualms about using it. For the price, it's a solid piece of gear.

Item received in reasonable time. Run it on my training battle belt and tactical vest. I will be ordering an second product from this seller in the near future. I hope I never have to use it but better to have it and not need it; than need it one and not have one. Have not used to stop bleeding, but have compared to others that I have. This product is top notch. I really appreciate the aluminum windlass. The construction, stitching, and overall feel is very good quality. I ordered three and am very happy with them. Carry one on my EDC bag, shoulder strap. Wife has one in her purse. Two are going into the car kits. When you need it, you need it. Just be prepared. Scout motto holds true again. Picture Note: Recon is Tan, SZCTKlink is black.

This review is about the product itself. This simply i s a really nice product. The fabric material is high quality with super tight knitting and stitching. The lever is a strong metal. My only two concerns are the plastic belt loop and the lever lock. The loop may not be a concern as there is no stress on this piece, and the velcro time strap may make the lever lock more durable. All in all for $15 this is a good investment.To recon... Upgrade these pieces mentioned and ill still pay $20-25 for it.
