Can it be used for burning frankincense resin

I should think so. I use it for burning cones, but if I put the lid on there is not enough space. So if you use a charcoal base under the resin you might find the same problem, which is not really a problem as it burns ok. It is a very attractive burner.

How is this when burning charcoal and resin

I was expecting great things from this burner. I found that the charcoal took ages to burn and the actual burner was way beyond a safe temperature to touch when in use. Also looked really cheap. Wouldn't buy again.

Does an incense stick work with this? Or does the ash fall out?

If you trim the bottom of the stick then it will stand pretty straight and the ash will stay in the holder

So it does it take the thicker Tibetan/Nepalese style incense

I dont know what Tibetan/Nepalese style incense is, I have used it for Japanese coils with a coil holder inside and normal cones. If you mean incense resin burnt on charcoal, then I think it would be ok. Its very well made and attractive.
