great book with Indian themes
There is plenty of Indian colour in this novel. The wonderful characters come to life on the page and the situations are full of humour and warmth. I really enjoyed it.

One of my favorite books
Perhaps you have to be a Parsi from Bombay to really appreciate the poignant-humor in these stories. I cannot believe how vivid Mistry makes the characters, how true-to-life he brings back my childhood memories from Bombay. I am filled with nostalgia.

His novels are better than the short stories
His novels are wonderful..the short stories not quite as good. I'm looking forward to his next full-length book.

Another Great Read by Mistry
I really enjoy Mistry's writing. This is a great book of intertwined short stories very similar in style to Family Matters. I would highly recommend this book to Mistry fans. It is also a good introduction to his writing style and perspective of life in India.

Such interesting stories.
Mistry is probably one of the most interesting authors I've ever encountered. It's so interesting and intriguing to see how the different characters fit into each other's lives.

Not as nice as expected
I believe it was advertised as very good or like new. The pages are yellow. Also - I ended up buying two of the same book (not from you) because the names came up differently. (Don't think that's your fault).

This is the one
I am in the process of answering a questionnaire asking, if I could recommend one book to someone to read, what book would it be?I came on this site to check the spelling of the full name of this book.I love this book.

Parsi stories
I'm a recent convert to this author, who writes about aspects of Parsi life, an Indian culture that is relatively unknown in the West. While the themes are often small and domestic the slant is unique. Mr Mistry clearly writes from experience, with clarity and wit. The characters of his stories are intertwined, developing and aging through the book, and he brings real warmth to their flawed but mainly attractive personalities. His talent is to describe both the good and less good in human nature, with understanding and warmth. Loved this and am now into his novels as well

Rohinton Mistry book
Very cheap and quality just as described. Disappointed that this book turned out to be an American/Canadian publication of one I'd already read under the title "Tales from Firozsha Baag" - a book of short stories, one of which is entitled "Swimming Lessons"!!However, not the fault of the seller and cheap enough to be able to write it off!
