Works - And Then Some
I've just started woodworking, and made my own tapering jig. Yeah, it didn't work. So I made another one. That one didn't work either. Before I blamed the wood, or the saw, I thought I'd go ahead and try this jig. Watched several YouTube videos. I made four table legs, tapered, first time out. And they were perfect. Not ok, not almost ok. Perfect. This jig made it SO easy. I watched the DVD, read the directions, used an online calculator to figure out the degrees to set it to - and the legs turned out well. I'd HIGHLY recommend this jig - it's incredibly versatile. I' also used it to cut straight edges on boards for gluing together - and it works great at that as well. While I admire the folks that can make their own jigs, while I'm learning the process, it's nice to have something that just works. Will I try to make my own jig again in the future? Probably not - why would I when this works so well. I've been using mine for over a month now - and it just works - consistent, repeatable cuts. Stop thinking about it - just get it. You won't regret it. But do - please - watch the DVD - it's worth the 15 minutes or so, and you can always go back and watch the section you need.

Well designed and useful tool, incredible customer service.
Carefully designed and very versatile taper jig, especially if you already use Grrripper products which I do. Also incredible customer service. Being a wood butcher like so many of us, I tried to work on a narrow leg design and managed to cut off the corner of the jig. Completely my fault. So I wrote them asking to buy another base piece, there was something of an e-mail screwup, and they then insisted on sending me a completely new jig free. Amazing.A note of caution... if you are using narrow leg pieces at even A 2ยบ angle, you will cut the corner of their jig off unless you use a spacer piece to move the jig further away from the blade. Covering this in the instruction manual would have been good.See photo of tapered legs on work in progress cherry table attached to this review.

Thoroughly read the instructions and watch the DVD first!
I started using it before I understood how it works. You need to purchase the Grrrippers that go with it or fashion your own. In my first attempt the wood piece I was working on started slipping and going off. Like an idiot, I grabbed the piece with my hand and tried to guide it. I ended up with a nasty cut from the table saw. If the blade had been a little higher, I would have lost a finger. With that said, once I got a pair of Grrrippers for it the rig worked flawlessly and I was able to put a nice taper on the legs for the planter I was building (shown in photo)

Quick setup
If you have never used any other tapering jig you might think all jigs are as versatile as the MicroJig. Believe me they're not. Using this jib made want to cut tapers in everything I was working with. On day one I just ran wood through the table saw just testing different angles for repetitiveness. Spot on every time! At first I thought the unit was a bulky but as you work with it you'll find that the size is appropriate and the extra girth is convenient while guiding the piece through the table saw. My only hesitation is/was the price. If you taper wood frequently, this is your tool. If only once in a blue moon, you might want something less expensive OR wait for a sale.

Solid well built taper jig.
I recently bought this taper jig, and have used it a few times. I should have bought this years ago, instead of building multiple taper jigs. It is easy to use and has a range of options, that I might not use, but are great to have available. I am a big fan of this jig, and can see using it for years.

Customer service corrected the incomplete delivery w/an extra bonus
The product was delivered with only 4 of the 6 pieces TJ-H9 shoulder washers to be able to attach Two and not only one GRR gripper to the taper jig for save usage. After contacting the the customer service (twice) they corrected the mistake and did not only send us 10 of the missing washers, but also a free bonus leg for our gripper as apology. Thanks, very appreciated.Great customer service. Product is very precise and works phenomenal accurate.Set up may take a moment, but if you like to work precisely, than this is the jig to go!

Prone to error
I have used a home-made taper jig and found it a little unsafe, so that is why I bought the Microjig. The basic idea is sound enough, and the preset settings for angle and amount of drop per foot are accurate. However, to taper normal length table legs safely it is necessary to add *two* gripper push blocks. That adds considerably to the cost for what's essentially a bunch of plastic that you have to assemble yourself. More serious, though, is that the weakest link in the assembly is the process of attaching the two grippers to the taper jig. There are so many ways this can introduce error or slop in the cut, that it becomes a time consuming pain to set it all up. Even though I set up with great care and ran a test blank, I still managed to ruin a table leg on my first actual production run. So all told, it's an expensive and sloppy jig with too many bells & whistles that most of us won't use. They should have put their energy into solid design instead of accessories.
