There is nothing one needs to add; the cookie, as is, is flawless; as accompaniment to a perfect vanilla ice cream, it is exquisite. I used to be able to buy a box in local markets; then was compelled to the vagaries of French Amazon with a shipping price rivaling the cookie price. Now the cost of a box (or per cookie) is so ridiculous, insulting and absurd it makes me hate capitalism every time I buy one. But every time I eat one of these cookies, I’m grateful I can afford to treat myself.

I grew up in Belgium, dunking these cookies in coffee and love them. I prefer them to that well-known cinnamon cookie handed out on Delta although i also grew up on that one; it’s a Belgian made cookie. I prefer Bastogne—LU used to market it in the US under the name “Cinnamon Crisp” I think—because of its more open texture, and just the flavor, frankly.I was sad when it was no longer available on Amazon as my state LU/Keebler reps have never sold it in Utah but I used to find it in other stores when I traveled.Until a couple years ago Amazon was offering it in cases of 6 boxes for the same price they now offer the single box. I’ll probably order one every once in a while but $14 for a box of cookies????I just returned from several weeks in Belgium and brought some back with me so I’m set for a while.
