Great buy
Throws off major sparks. It will last a lifetime. It is a little heavy so if being placed in a backpacking bag take that into consideration ounces equal pounds.

Magnum 1" x 5" Ferrocerium rod
I have several Ferrocerium rods of different sizes from different manufacturers, I bought this because it it huge and will literally last a lifetime even under austere conditions. It throws an amazing spark for a good distance at a high temp. The more carbon in the striker the better the spark. Did I mention it fits nicely in the hand. It is heavy and would add too much weight for backpacking. It is best for base camp/car/truck camping.I called the manufacturer because Amazon was out of them. They went to extra mile and searched around and found on for me and shipped out fast. Not many companies would do this for a 1st time customer.I will order a couple of more for my kids.I also have demo'd this in the off grid classes I teach and most students want to order them.Would I buy again from this company, you better believe it.A last observation: You strike, it showers with sparks!!!!
