The most heavy-duty car door camera mount - long time in the market
The propping "leg" for the mount could be better in terms of weight distribution as not to cause the car door to dent under sustained stress.

Durable, solid and of light weight construction.
Fits on my car door perfectly, it adjust to the door width, and extends downward inside, and the plate adjust to the length of your arm rest. Screwed my Gimbal head directly into the plate screw, and after our inclement weather clears, will give it the outdoor test, appears very durable and of solid and light weight construction, it will also serve as a bean-bag platform to support my smaller lens. I was worried, if I used it externally that it might scratch the outside of the car door, but each end of the plate that rest against the door, has a hard plastic cover over the metal parts, preventing scratching. The Eckla Eagle comes with a carry bag. A well thought, out simple tool for mounting camera/lenses and camcorders, spotting scopes. My Gimbal head has a vertical height adjustment, where I can slide it upward so I don't have to bend my neck downward, I might add that I will be able to use this installed internally, with my zoom lenses, but not my large lens, as I am of large stature, and cannot slide to my right to make room, I will be forced to use the device externally, only with my large lens. If you have a truck or older car where you can slide to the right, then you will never have an issue with room, you can also slide your seat all the way back, but doesn't help with large lenses if your intended target is to the cars left, if your are of small stature, then you may not have a room issue. I anticipate that I will using the Eckla Eagle installed externally, most of the time. Where I take pictures there are mostly dirt roads, but you can see approaching or passing vehicles in time to roll up the window to avoid dust on your camera equipment, I mention this because you can quickly detach your Eckla Eagle and pull it inside and just as quickly re-attach it to the door.

Very Helpful Addition Possibly
This support does provide sturdy support for ballheads, gimbals and even beanbags. It's very individual however, and some may find it overkill or too restricting. At first, I found it problematic for my 2011 Outback. It wasn't fitting quite as I had hoped, and it wasimpairing my driving area. After a short time, I decided it was worthwhile, as I suppose I adjusted to it. I find I can't drive very far with it attached to the door, but it does attach quickly so I wait until I'm in an area likely to find opportunities, I can drive slowly with either camera and 500mm lens attached or just the support bracket in place and then quickly mount camera/lens at the right moments. Overall, I'm pleased with it's performance but some may not be so inclined.

Exactly what I wanted
I got this mount for my Glacier NP trip, and, boy, was I glad I did. I was using it with Canon 200-400L/4 x1.4/5.6 (which is very heavy) and Wimberley gimbal head. For transportation/storage purposes I do recommend to undo the front panel and mount it back on the main unit. Just remember what you did, otherwise you'd be hard pressed to restore the original working configuration ;)A couple of images: [...]

Purchased as a gift, the door mount had to be returned because it would not work on the slightly curved window of a Porsche Panamara, without some other adaptive appliance, the combined weight of which a safety concern.
