Bestop 5472417 Supertop Ultra - '07-18 Wrangler JK 4-Door (Black Twill)

Just installed this on my Wrangler JK Unlimited. Great material, looks great, but the installation was a bit difficult. The instructions provided were very difficult to follow, I watched one of the Bestop installation videos on YouTube which was very helpful but still took about 4 hours. Overall very happy with the purchase.

The twill fabric isn't like the other fabric top type that eventually dries out, shrinks, and cracks/rips. The only con was that they could have better separated and labeled the screws to know which ones go where. To speed up install, it helps to have a second set of hands and a low torq clutch electric driver for the screws. It handles fine in car washes.

Pros - looks good, about as quiet as my hard top; panels in rear are easily removable, does not leak water (so far); quality canopy material; fits well. Cons - installation was difficult, primarily because holes in the header and the canopy where attached did not align well, and the screws to attach the canopy to the rear structure are inadequate to drive by hand into the pre-drilled holes. Also, the function of the top to retract and to close was a challenge. I'm not sure the product sent to me in May 2021 is the most current model, or it could be that the assist assembly was taken from a different model? Its not the same part as the one installed by the manufacturer in the YouTube video. Also, a red marker line through the barcode? I noticed that after installed - when I had to remove for the Bestop rebate.

For me, there hasn't been a lot of Pro's and mostly Con's to the purchase. Installation was difficult but took my time and got it done. It's a heavy duty cloth material. That said, a drawback is that it holds dust, pet hair and all the other road grime that you may run in to. Most of it can be washed away but depending on how clean you really want it or so that it keeps its dark black color, you may need to do what I do and use a tape or lint roller, which is a real pain. The biggest issue I've had with the soft top that I continue to struggle with is with my soft top latching and closing at the front of the vehicle. It was installed perfectly, yet I still have to loosen bolts on the frame of the vehicle in order to get it to latch. Three different Bestop phone representatives have told me the top would eventually mold to the vehicle and stretch to a point where it would be easy to latch; unfortunately, that has never happened over months of use and it is ultimately an extreme pain to have to unzip and loosen frame bolts every time I want to put the top up - especially, when it is going to rain and you want it up quick. It totally defeats the purpose of having a soft top and the ease of which Bestop advertises. If I had to do it over again, I wish I would have put my $2000 toward a JEEP manufactured soft top setup instead - now I'm stuck with a top that doesn't function and am very frustrated. I've had a number of friends with JEEPS ask me about this brand soft top and I continue to recommend they look elsewhere.

Took about 3.5 hours to install but happy with how it looks. Good detailed instructions and a video is available on YouTube which helps alot.

I had such high hopes for this top. However, the product was troublesome from the beginning. When I first tried to install the top two pieces broke, warranting a 6 week delay while parts were back ordered and shipped. Then, the wrong part was shipped to me when I received one of the replacement parts. One of the bolts holding the back arms keeps falling out no matter how hard I tighten it. Since then one of the pneumatic arms has bent and broke. Three weeks later, I am still waiting for someone from customer service to contact me. Now there’s a weird rattle I’ve got to find. I highly suggest looking at other tops. At this point I’d rather have the original top. I will be replacing this top and I haven’t even used it one summer.

Videos by company on YouTube were help with install, my only negative is the small screws were at times hard to attach without almost stripping them. So far seems to be very good product, easy to switch between different styles.

Love it, semi or full naked jeep. Company great customer service even on late Saturday. Noise same as my BMW Z4. No issues. We have a major thunderstorm with heavy rain and no issues. Great investment.
