I bought this one for my sister because her old regular thermometer broke. I have two of my own and have gifted them to my sons who love to cook, but don't love to get food poisoning. So much less stomach trouble when you know your meal is actually a food safe temperature! I like that the magnet keeps it close to the range on my range hood. Always close at hand when needed. Reliable and long lasting. An excellent product.

This is a swell thermometer: accurate and quick.Here's the amazing part: I bought mine just a month shy of 4 years ago.Recently, the display started to flash any time I was measuring a temperature.I emailed Lavatools, just asking them what this meant and how I could make it stop.With no questions asked--not about date of purchase or anything else--they've sent me a new one, next day delivery.I've really not ever encountered that degree of standing behind your product.I'm thinking you can buy from Lavatools with a high degree of confidence.

We often send my son out in the dark to BBQ Steaks. It only seemed right to get him a light up meat thermometer to send out there with him. I like that it has a cover so it stays clean after you wash it cause we all know it’s going in that weird drawer in the garage after I wash it!

This is my first Lavatools product and I am very happy. I really needed an instant read thermometer that is both instant and accurate. And, because we wash everything, it needed to be water resistant (which is why I needed a new one, the old one wasn't). I use this on the grill, smoker and in the kitchen. What I like is that the sensing portion of the tip is AT the tip, not 1 cm above it. And the probe is LONG and REALLY thin, and has marks so you can get the same depth each reading you do. It takes less than 5 seconds, typically 3, to read. I calibrated it against both hot and cold, and it was less than 0.3 deg off. You can calibrate it if you need to. I REALLY like this thermometer. I have been using it for many months now, and it still works reliably. I prefer this style over the folding one which will probably fail earlier. What I DON'T like is that its features are confusing. I needed to go back to the manual to refresh on just how to turn it off! Be careful, you can easily get into calibrate mode if you're not careful. MEMORIZE the instructions, then keep them handy - you'll need them. I guess you should know that I don't use this for important meats, I use the MEATER system, which I find superior is all ways. Except for filet, I use this one. It works perfectly.

I find the folding thermometers to be a little bulky for carrying around a kitchen all day so I was happy to see that Lavatools came out with this model, as I prefer their Javelin Pro Duos over the similar style Thermapens. It's accurate, fast, user-friendly, and compact enough to easily carry in your front pocket.

Grilling, baking, cooking, etc. this handy little thermometer takes the guesswork out of doneness. Honestly, I love this little gadget so much, I have purchased multiple as gifts from friends, family, and secret Santa / work parties. Highly recommend!!

I've had this for about 6 months and here's my thoughts. The thermometer itself is great. Reads quick and accurate. The cover is a blunder. It began to split at the seem after 2 weeks. This causes it to no longer click in and stay on. The reason for this is the one-way design. If you attempt sheath it and it's not in the proper orientation, it wedges the cover apart. I'm not using a lot of force ar anything, just over time.The other thing I really don't like is the upside-down placement of the clip. It's on the cover, which doesn't securely hold the thermometer, and it's facing the wrong direction in my opinion. If you work in a kitchen and you bend over, everything in your Chef coat pocket thats not cliped falls out on the floor and this clip is useless.

I've gone through a lot of "instant" read thermometers. This is the first I've found that is actually instant (less than 1 second). I find myself using it a lot more often because it reads so quickly. It is calibrated when you receive it, but you can also calibrate it yourself if you need to for some reason. Flipping the text for left/right hand use is helpful. My only complaint, as others have mentioned, is the magnet is very weak. It is barely enough to hold the weight of the thermometer, but not strong enough to keep it in the orientation you put it in. I don't use the magnet anyway, so not a big deal for me.
