Runs true
Hollow all the way through and runs true. Using this to adapt ER11 collets to my upgraded ER20 spindle so I cut it down a bit. Also handy as an extension when you need to reach deep into a cavity with a small bit but don't want to lose too much rigidity.

12mm NOT 0.5 inch
BTW the diameter has been specified as 0.5 inch instead of the actual 12mm in at least one answer.It has a 6mm hole in the shaft goes through the entire length. There are no collets included, so keep that in mind. Seems to be made well, I've had no problems with it.

Absolute Garbage
Look at the picture and tell me why the nut wouldn't be able to screw on with a collet inserted. This company is trash and they wasted my time.

Excellent lab tool
I use this to prepare metallurgical samples for DSC analysis. This is, without a doubt, the secret weapon that I've been looking for for years. I can prepare ultra thin samples with a mass of just 25mg with ease! One modification that I made was to dip the shaft in rubber so that I can have a more sturdy grip.I realize that this is not what this tool is meant for, but it is an excellent application!

for my application the shaft was over 8mm and did not work.

Defective
Item was received with a defective nut. Un-usable as collet would not fit into defective nut.

Nut was not fully machined out so it would only put pressure on one side of the collet
