Honeywell THX9421R5021WW Redlink Prestige IAQ Color Touchscreen Thermostat

No one out there does a good job of explaining some critical info the home owner needs to know.So... if you are wanting to automate and control your Heat/AC equipment over the internet or via an App remotely. You need to know how many wires you have in the wall.The old wires with conductor or less... will work with this Honeywell system, but you need a control module at the equipment. The brains are in the control module. However new stats today have all the brains and capability built right into the stat. So... if you have NEW wiring like 4-6 pairs of wires then all you need is the stat and a. REDLINK Internet wifi Gateway device. This pairs to the stat / plugs into the modem/router and allows you to control from afar.If you "LIKE ME" have older 4 wires or less in the wall, you will have to buy 3 items. 1) The stat, 2) The control module and 3) The Redlink Gateway.

Bought this and the other control box because our older Honeywell was becoming unresponsive intermittently. Well winter hit and a couple weeks later we could not turn the heater function on using the old Honeywell thermostat. Not cool! My wife was a bit nervous that I couldn’t install the redline system , but I had no doubts. It seems to work as it should , although you need the installers code to get into advanced functions. I’m not to worried about all of that stuff I live a pretty simple life

Bought this to replace a 2009 Honeywell Prestige HD which didn't support fan or schedule control with the Total Connect Comfort app It looks and works just like the old Prestige albeit with some more options. This thermostat requires a Honeywell Equipment Interface Module (EIM) to connect it wirelessly to the furnace. The model number for the EIM is THM5421R1021.

Nice thermostat, if you use a Honeywell Redline thermostat and need to replace it, this is the one for you. I installed and programmed it myself, but if you don’t know or understand your computer controlled Honeywell system that is attached to your HVAC, I highly recommend having your HVAC company install and program this unit.

I have had a Prestige thermostat for 5 years and it worked well. However, as we went to add a dehumidifier to the house we found that it was too old of a model to support one more piece of equipment. We needed to purchase a new thermostat and wanted to stay with Redlink. The THX9421R5021 works great, and has a few more features than the old model. We are quite pleased with it.
