I see no reason why it couldn’t be used for drywall. It’s light weight and sturdy enough.

How wide is the claw notch?

The end is 1.5 inches total with the notch being about 3/8ths at the end coming to about 1/4 at the inside curve of the notch.

How do you protect the head from cutting things, tent bag, stuff sacks etc in your dry bag? Sends like it should have come with protective shield🤔

It's not that sharp. It's useful for removing stakes (think claw hammer).
