do you know if the wood stove steamers can be used on a gas stove?

Yes they can. You may want to use a heat-proof trivet underneath so as not to mar the surface of your gas stove. Otherwise there is really no difference. The steamers add much needed moisture into the air.

What is the length & width of the surface of bottom?

L~10 W~8 It’s perfect on our blaze king. It is perfect on our huge wood stove. Fyi we don’t get it hot enough here in Alaska for the steam to be visible coming from the nostrils

Does this work with wood burning fireplaces?

I don't know how you'd go about using it in a fireplace, it's designed to sit on the hot flat top of a wood burning stove

Is this the biggest & best that they have ? ! ?

I don’t know if it is the biggest but it holds a gallon of water and takes about a week to empty…It fits perfectly on our Blaze King
