Cost effective professional style meat slicer
Verified purchase, no affiliation with the company. I wanted a knife that I could use for slicing turkeys and hams, but I didn't want to spend $100 plus for something I'd use only a few times a year. I've used meat-slicing knives produced by some of the big-name companies, and I was always impressed with how easy it was to cut accurate slices with a good knife made for slicing meat. I didn't want an electric slicer because sometimes I want to be able to slice at the table, so I was attracted to this knife because it looked good and the price was more than reasonable. I've used this knife several times now and I think it's as good as any slicer I've ever used regardless of price. I also think it's the perfect length and width for a slicer, and the Granton edge keeps it from sticking to the meat. It appears to be made from a good quality of steel and has retained its' edge very well. I do strop the edge with a good quality steel and only cut over wooden cutting boards to maintain sharpness. I don't know how far the tang fits into the handle. The handle is some type of phenolic molded affair, not riveted on like the costlier knives, but for the money I didn't expect that. I don't put this knife in the dishwasher because I don't know how well the handle will hold up to the heat from the dishwasher, so I advise hand washing only for this particular knife. I did buy a Messermeister 14" edge guard for this knife. The knife does come with a guard but it's not much protection in my utility drawer. You will need a rather large drawer or some other method for storing this knife. It won't fit in any knife block I know of nor hang easily from a magnetic strip, so plan on a storage space that will accommodate the 20 inch overall length (the exposed blade measures 14"). This probably isn't the knife a professional chef would reach for, but for my purposes it's virually perfect, especially considering how little I paid. If you take care of it the way you should care for a quality knife and protect the edge, it should last a very long time. I can recommend it for those of us who just want something to cut the Thanksgiving turkey properly without spending a small fortune.

Nice weight on it
This is a very good knife , I watch cooks illustrate and they recommend this knife it's very affordable and it cuts through acorn squash, which is very hard but it had no trouble.

Great quality knives
Great knives. We bought some from our knife sharpener and were looking to add more because they are the go to knife in the kitchen.

great knives
These are great knives. Perfect weight and easy on the hand. Several members of our family have them now. We keep them handy for everyday use preparing dinner. We cut veggies with them and they make a good steak knife as well. Colorful and useful!

Do not hesitate. These are HIGH quality professional knives.
Fantastic knife. I can't wait to buy more from ICEL. The price does not reflect the quality, these are up there with Victorinox Forschner Fibrox. Don't get me wrong, there is subtle differences between ICEL and Victorinox, first being fit and finish. The ICEL has great fit and finish but does not have an eased spine like the Victorinox and the handle is a little less grippy but still very comfortable and I don't feel like it's going to slip out of my hand. These use the same steel as most high quality German knives and Victorinox (X50CrMoV15) which is a great steel that can take a beating and still hold up in the demands of a high volume kitchen (I work in banquets at a high volume luxury resort kitchen). My knife came sharp and ready to go! Japanese knives are great and I own my fair share of them but I can't tell you how many times I felt uneasy about using my Japanese knives in the workplace for fear of getting damaged or stolen, so I leave those at home so they can be babied. This knife is a brute and noticeably heavier than a Victorinox which I like. I wish Amazon had the other ICEL lines like the Maitre or Technik series. I can't figure out why the price is so low on these compared to Victorinox, my guess is the name a popularity but I tell you what ICEL now has another life long customer.

This Knife is the Workhorse in the Stable
This knife seems to be a knock-off of the venerable Victorinox chef's knife. The Icel blade tang is a bit thicker than the Victorinox, but overall they are identical in most other dimensions. It has the same weight and balance as the Victorinox. I use my Victorinox every day, but it's starting to show some wear, and I wanted a 'prettier' knife for my recently purchased bamboo knife wall magnet. I'm hoping the Icel is a worthy competitor.Out of the box, the edge was very sharp as is typical for factory new knives. I am a bit concerned that the edge of the blade does not have a mirror finish. The machining marks are easily visible. Once sharpened, any micro-serrations from the factory will be gone forever and it will all be down to the steel. It's only after some weeks I'll be able to make a decent assessment of the sharpness of this knife. I will report back either way.I do like the surface finish of the Icel better than the Victorinox. It's a bit rougher and should hide scuffs better. I do have to admit I put my kitchen knives in the dishwasher from time to time, but I try not to make it a habit. The product arrived with the knife tip sticking out of the package. It's not a big deal, but also not a great introduction to the product. I cannot say for sure whether this is a packaging issue or came that way from the factory to the seller, so I'm putting it in this review.1/1/19 update -This knife is a fantastic knife. It holds its edge very well - I'm amazed by it. Feel is good. It likes the dishwasher just fine, doesn't rust. Total workhorse for the serious home cook.
