Q: I wear size 5.50 if walking shoe I wear size 6, sure I buy size 5 or 6 ?

I am a 5 &1/2 shoe, hard to find, but with the Fit Flops I go with the 5 as they do not come in 1/2 sizes. A 5 fits perfect plus they do stretch a little as with any shoe. I was sent a 6 by mistake one time, no way , way to big, so I would go with the 5. Hope this helps
