This is a soaking whetstone. You have to immerse the whetstone into the water for 20 minutes prior to use.

The recommended angle is 15-20 degrees.

Q: Is it safe to storage it in water? So it can be always ready for sharpening?

Do not store in water, it'll degrade. I bought mine last year. It only take say 5 minutes to soak under water & bubble out the air. If you're knife isn't damaged or pitted and you just need to fine-tune the blade, you're using the 6000 stone. If your knife is really beat up and the blade is chunky/spikey, use the 1000 stone. When I'm done sharpening, I take the stone out of the wooden holder and let it drip dry on a rack over a towel. Takes about 30 minutes, to an hour and that's no big deal. When I store it I take a paper towel or newspaper page, wrap the stone, put it back into the wooden holder and put the whole thing back into your kitchen cabinet. That's it. This's a good stone, I love mine!
