CargoLoc 2-in-1 Hitch Mount and Roof Top Cargo Carrier, 48 x 19.5

I saw these at a retail chain store for a similar price. After looking through the discount and used section, I ordered one with a damaged box from an Amazon warehouse.Prime brought it in two days later. It took 20 minutes to assemble, all parts included. It comes with two sets of bolts, intending to either have the hitch bar with longer bolts, or roof-rack mode with shorter hardware. I decided to assemble mine fully and see how it measured up on my CRV's roof.The full setup with the hitch receiver (the wider of the two options) was not wide enough to correctly fit my roof rack. I decided to drill new mounting holes and paint over with a sealant, to prevent the steal from rusting (hopefully).Feels very sturdy, held my moderately-sized frame on the hitch, and feels rock solid on the roof. It should take me about 4 or 5 minutes to take it off the roof and put it on my hitch, and maybe 10 to get it back on, as it gets awkward lining up all the u-bolts.The hand fasteners are a bit annoying and I was tempted to remove the plastic wing-nut socket so I could use a socket to tighten them down quickly, but I know that the day I need to take it off the roof I won't have my tools in my car.Overall, very happy with this purchase.

This works great, I move it back and forth from the roof to the hitch depending on how far I am traveling and what I am carrying. The price value is great.

For all of the people complaining about the holes not lining up perfectly. Have you never been trained to finger tighten all the bolts first. Give yourself a little wiggle room when assembling something like this.Took off one star because the top bar should have a slot not a hole to make it easier to adjust and people would stop complaining about the holes not being perfectly aligned.All that being said the holes are off a little bit it’s not perfectly flat when assembled, is it good enough, yes it is for me. I’m carrying a cooler around on it not a crystal chandelier. Seems well built for what it is, there’s a few chips in the paint from shipping, to be expected. Little spray paint will take care of that. For the price point I think it’s great

I added reflective tape, used LocTite on all the nuts & bolls, and U-bolted on a locking storage/tool box. It seems to be well made. Very pleased!

I like the idea of being able to use it on my roof or tow hitch unfortunately its rusting pretty quick so I dont want that dripping onto the roof of my car. I dont see it lasting more than 2 winter seasons but it works well off the tow hitch. The middle part also does not sit flush so the whole thing kind of arches giving a curved platform.

Perfect for a trip through the mountains on the hitch of my Forrester. I didn't assemble the roof variation but the tailgate one and it worked flawlessly. Best $70 I've spent in quite a while. Took 15 minutes to assemble, the instructions are vague but you don't need much direction. The only reason it took 15 minutes was trying to find a torque wrench in the correct size. One one critique is that you NEED a full torque set (one torque wrench and one stationary wrench to hold the bolts) and they could have easily provided a cheap little ikea style wrench or two.

Easy to assemble. Its a ggod value for the money. It creates wind noise because it does not have a wind diffuser. Small enough to hide in a closet or under a bed but good sizr for a cooler or camping gear. I use it in a subaru crosstrek

Hard to attach to roof rack and terrible noise vibrations at high speeds. Even after putting styrofoam tubing on front rack!! Maybe fine for rear hitch mount; but that’s not what I intended use! Will return it!🙁
