Q: I have new a construction house. Well feeds a 2600 gallon storage tank. I need a pump for on demand domestic water. Is this the right pump?

Because your water source is a storage tank that will provide only a few psi of gravity pressure the correct pump for your application would be the BT20-40 which produces 78psi. The BT20-40, however, is a 240V pump so if 120V is all that you have available then you really should have a BIT20-30 or BIT14-45. The BIT series is a little newer than the BT series and is not yet available on Amazon but you can contact us directly if you like as we have them in stock.The reason you do not want a BT20-30 in your application is because it produces less pressure (only 50psi) than the minimum operating pressure of the of the BT series which is 65psi. With the pump shutting off at less than 65psi there is a very good chance the BT series pump will frequently shut off in fault mode and need to be manually reset anytime you want the pump to work.

Q: will in need to install a check valve on this pump?

No, the Torrium 2 controller which comes with the pump has a built-in check valve so no external check valve is needed to maintain pressure when the system is idle.

Q: Can this pump be installed outside in Florida

We do not recommend the pump be installed outdoors without some type of coverage or protection from the elements.

Q: I don’t want a pump that runs every time I crack open a faucet. Is this pump or a similar one available without the Torrium controller?

The concept behind Davey and other brands of on-demand pumps is that you will actually use less energy on-demand instead of having to pressurize a tank 20 additional psi when the pressure switch is low. In addition, they provide a much more constant pressure without the 20 psi swing. Davey pumps are not sold without the Torrium and would generally not be desireable for that application.
