Q: Do the blades go into the slots or the handles?

The blades always go in. I'm using it a few weeks now and I have zero issues. Sames as 3 of my chefs. Blades in first, carefully. Then zero chances of getting cut. Roll the bag up nicely then tighten the straps. Sorted 😎

Q: Can knives Pierce through or is it safe to put them in with no protection?

Dear Alan, Thank you for your question and interest in our product. We used thicker (16OZ) better quality canvas material in order to make the product safer, much harder for knives to pierce through. I believe it is okay to use the product with no protection if you have the knife roll bag just for regular usages, such as safer more convenient storage and safer transporting of knives during camping or any butcher purposes. With that said you can always use a knife tip protector together with our product to be 100% safe, if you are worried about any accidents during, for example, hunting or any activity where the danger can be higher. - If you decide to use the tip protectors, you don't have to worry if the knives with tip protectors would fit as our bag has various slot sizes. Q: Would it work for large butcher knives upto 12 inches?

Yes, you will be able to fit your 12-inch knives easily into the roll bag (12 inches = 30.48 CM). See attached video, please. There is plenty of space. You can carry even larger objects.
