Simple, Sturdy, and Sharp
This can opener is easy to use and feels solid in hand. It cuts through cans smoothly without much effort. However, the blade is quite sharp, so you need to be careful when handling it. Overall, a great basic can opener that gets the job done!

Solid can opener
It's thick well made big enough it opens can somewhat quickly once you get the hang of it but that's my favorite type of can opener

Not as good as the ones in South America.
These are not optimally designed. I’m from South America and these are all we use but this design the little tooth/hook that grabs to the can isn’t grippy enough. See the picture compared to one I brought from South America. It works but you have to slant the can opener way over the can for it to work and the opening of the can isn’t nice and clean.

Copy of Australian military can opener, but cheaper
Can opener is related in design to the Australian armed forces Field Ration Eating Device (F.R.E.D. or FRED), except that it doesn't fold down for easy storage. Tool seems sturdy and is easier to hold than US-style P-38 and P-51 can openers. That said, I don't know about the longevity of this tool--the steel seems a bit soft and likely to wear out faster than a better quality can opener. Good for camping trips--at least while it's new.

Good design, poor materials
I bought two of these. They both broke in exactly the same way. Part of the little tab that fits underneath the rim of the can you're opening -- thus providing the fulcrum for rocking the tool back and forth to cut the top -- broke off, leaving a rounded nub. See photo. Thus rounded off, it won't stay under the can rim. It slips. Ergo, no rocking, hence no cutting and no joy in opening the can. It's really too bad, because without this problem, it would be an absolutely perfect can opener. Since both of mine developed this same problem almost immediately (under completely normal use, on ordinary soup cans), I can only conclude that the metal chosen for the tab was too soft. That metal needs to be harder than the metal on the can if it's going to work.
