Great Quality, Came as Advertised
Everything turned out to be just as advertised! Iāve used this on my two American Bully male dogs and it works great. Definitely requires a good training foundation, this would not be a good option for an amateur trainer or as the only means of training new commands.Iāve used it indoors and out, on walks and at the park, and I have found what settings work for my dogs based on what distractions are present. Eventually Iāll be working them up to beach / hiking / camping trips once we have a really solid recall, which is why I got the collars.Great quality, the collars are not terribly heavy (especially for my 75lb boys) and the remote is very durable. Having one black and one orange makes it easy to differentiate which buttons control which collar, however I do wish it was a bit more customizable as I would have preferred a brighter color than black. Neon green, yellow, etc would have been nice options for high visibility.Battery life has been awesome. The collars came with an almost full charge, I have charged them and the remote once in the last two months, and the remote still has 2/3 bars of life left and the collars have not flashed red yet. Granted I only use the collars for 4-8 hrs a day a few days a week.Overall, 10/10 would recommend.

Best training tool ever - professional grade equipment
We have a couple of American Bulldog puppies that are sizing up fast. Something had to be done to get them under control. This is a farm scenario, where these dogs are outside a lot and there to protect livestock, but as puppies will do, they key off each other and start chasing the livestock they're supposed to protect. I've never wanted to employ a "shock" collar, but this situation was going to be dire. Low and behold, this is probably the most humane method of training, especially for a stubborn dog. Started with a cheap set that got us over the idea that it was "mean" and the results were immediate. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks, they began to ignore those collars (felt a little like putting a 9V battery on your tongue). The Dogtra collars arrived the day after I ordered them, fully charged and ready to go. I tried one of them out on my hand set at 30, and yowser, that'll get your attention but causes no injury. The dial on the remote allows easy changes in amount of correction, and the "Nick" mode is over almost before it started. Two days in with the new collars, and the dogs respond perfectly to the "pager" function, which is a little like vibration mode on your cellphone. It'll interrupt the dog's train of thought so it can hear your command. The beauty of it is, you can train your dog to a sweet sounding command, rather than losing your temper with it and expecting the dog to come running to you. It's not "remote control dog", using it sparingly, and letting the dog commit to the mistake before correction is the key to success. The "High Output" models are for bigger dogs (our Bulldogs are 4-1/2 months old and already weigh 55-60 lbs) and the collars have significant weight. You may want to go to Dogtra's sales site (on Amazon) look at the different types of systems they have and watch the video on how to select. We found that very helpful. All in all, this is probably the best purchase we've made since getting the dogs. One more thing I'd like to add, this system is really high quality. Definitely worth paying extra for.

Magical Dog Remote
I had never heard of Dogtra, but two months in, Very satisfied with the collars. I looked at some that were significantly less expensive, but one review in particular scared me; the owner reported it burned the dog. Frightening! I use this unit on our four month old lab puppies. I would no sooner endanger them, than I would our children.I previously had a Tri-Tronics unit, and loved it. They have been purchased by Garmin. But, for my purposes, their two collar units were unjustifiably more expensive. Iām not a hunter, and just primarily use the collar to keep them safe (obedience), by ensuring they come when I say!If youāve never used a shock collar before, they are wonderful. It enables our family to go hiking with the pups off leash, roam our acreage, etc. We always maintain supervision, but it enables them to run and play. Yet, ensures they come when called, or stay at Heel. Even if there is a deer, cat, bird, or human that runs right by them.As a further aside, one puppy has only had to be shocked once (no kidding, he gets it!), and just occasionally requires the page/vibrate to remind him. His brother is a little more stubborn, and has been shocked a handful of times, and routinely gets vibrated:) But, it magically makes the dog come back every time! Please donāt misunderstand, you must do the work, i.e., training obedience commands, before you introduce a collar!! The collar doesnāt teach, it just reinforces what they already know.Back to the product itself, love the physical size of the handheld remote unit. And the 1-99 range for intensity of shock. I put the collar on myself, at 25 - 30 itās slightly less intense than a shock from a 9 volt battery. That range is the level required for the stubborn puppy to respond. The more reasonable puppy has only been shocked at 21, yes, just once. The collars themselves are a good size, not too big, and seem to take a fair amount of abuse inflicted by two wrestling puppies.UPDATE March 2019:Having used the collars everyday for 15 months, I have zero complaints! They have worked flawlessly! No maintenance of any kind. All I have done is charge them.UPDATE OCTOBER 2021As another reviewer reports, remote can become unstable, meaning the intensity setting fluctuates up & down by itself. I spent $167 to replace remote in Sept. 2019. Now in Oct. 2021 the replacement remote is suffering the same issue. (You can mail the defective remote in for repair, but I cannot be without a working unit.) An irritation for sure, but I still like the product. The two collars themselves are used daily & have worked flawlessly.
