“Fool Me Twice” by Nona Uppal!!!!! 🥺🙌🤌🏻🤌🏻😭💕
Review of "Fool Me Twice" by Nona Uppal:Wow, Nona Uppal's "Fool Me Twice" took me on an emotional rollercoaster! Once I started reading, I was totally lost in its world, forgetting all my worries. Uppal's writing is so deep and emotional, it's like she's speaking directly to your soul. This book was like a breath of fresh air in a tough week. I couldn't wait to dive into its pages and escape reality for a while. Plus, can we talk about how stunning the cover is? It's like a work of art in itself! The friendships and romances in the story felt so real and genuine. I found myself wishing I had connections like that in my own life. And don't even get me started on Sana & Ashish's love story – it's the stuff of dreams!Every character in the book is so well-developed, with their own stories and struggles. None of them felt like background players; they all had a role to play in driving the plot forward.I have to give a shoutout to Uppal for how she handled some of the tougher moments in the story, especially Ashish's death. It hit me hard and left me reaching for the tissues.Overall, "Fool Me Twice" is a testament to Uppal's talent as a writer. She has this incredible ability to make you feel every emotion imaginable. I'm so glad she chose to share her gift with the world – this book has definitely left its mark on me. If you couldn't already tell, I'm head over heels for it!

A decent rom-com debut!
“I know people hate the romance genre in general, for its predictability, but that’s precisely why I love it. Isn’t there enough uncertainty in life to seek it in cinema too? For me, there’s something magical about that sequence, the promise of a happily ever after, that will never not soothe the deepest of my wounds.”A quote that truly describes this book the best!Blurb/Plot in the third slide.I picked this book because I like Nona’s writing/content on her IG, and I was assuming it would be something light and fluffy to read, something I needed at the moment. But damn, I was wrong about the light and fluffy part!It starts like a cute high school/college desi romcom with some cute Bollywood references. There’s an unexpected Usher reference too, of my favorite Usher song. And the JAB WE MET references, OMG - yes, it’s the best romcom ever - no arguments!I was over the moon given how much this movie means to me.But I was most impressed by how the subject of grief was handled with such sensitivity. The importance of friendships that act like a life jacket when you feel you are drowning deep in this sea of mourning! The characters are endearing, the plot might seem predictable at certain places, but it keeps you hooked throughout and takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. Moreover, Nona maintains her distinct writing style throughout the book, adding a unique charm to the narrative. Overall, a decent desi romcom debut!

Sometimes we all need a good cry
As for someone who has recently lost a very close friend, who I used to like once... I can't describe how much I have cried through out the book. Sana's emotions felt so relatable. The conflicts in her mind, the doubts and fears, everything was valid. The author have done a brilliant job. More powers to her.

fool me 2wice 🫶🏻
It's one of those books you want to read on a cozy Saturday afternoon when you just want to wind down with a feel-good story. The story follows Sana's journey through love, friendship, loss, and healing, and it does so in a way that feels very real and relatable. Just when everything seems perfect, life throws her a curveball, and watching her navigate that with the help of her close-knit gang was both emotional and inspiring. There's a good mix of drama, romance, and warmth in this one. Nona's writing is effortless, fun, and to the point, nothing too dragged or overdone, which I absolutely appreciate. Oh! And that ending? Total filmy moment in the best way possible! If you're in the mood for something light, heartwarming, and yet emotional in just the right measure! This one's for you!

A sweet book with some rough edges
I picked this book up as it showed up in my kindle recommendations. The first half of the story was sweet, I loved how Sana and Ashish came together. The writing was lyrical and beautiful. Yet, by the time the second half rolls around, the book loses some of it fizz. There is a change in writing and tone, and the book seems rushed almost. I wish the protagonist Sana's grief was dealt better, it seemed too convenient the way she and Pranav got together. The book definitely needed to be longer and needed a stronger conclusion. Love, of course, is an underlying principle but one which the author needed to explore the dynamics better when it came to Sana and Pranav. But all in all, it is a warm book and a very quick read. The author definitely has talent and I will look forward to future works by her.
