Wire Nuts on Steroids: The WAGO 221 Experience
Okay, folks, buckle up because I'm about to make wire connectors sound interesting. Yeah, I know, wire connectors—whoopee! But stay with me because the WAGO 221 Series Compact Splicing Wire Connectors are about to blow your mind. Imagine if Elon Musk decided to reinvent the paper clip—that's what we're dealing with here.I bought these connectors because, like any self-respecting homeowner, I have a pile of electrical work that I keep promising I'll get to... eventually. These WAGO connectors are like the IKEA of electrical work. You strip the wire, shove it in, flip the lever, and bam! Connection made. It's almost as satisfying as finding out your least favorite reality TV show just got canceled. Now, let's talk about the real selling point: ease of use. These things are so easy to use, I half-expected them to come with a complimentary glass of wine and a foot rub. They're compact, so they fit into those tiny electrical boxes like a dream. And for those of you who juggle solid and stranded wires, these connectors handle both like a pro. It's like having a Swiss Army knife in the form of a wire nut.But hold your horses—don't toss out your old wire nuts just yet. These WAGO connectors are rated for 20 amps, but if you're hooking up something that could double as a small power plant, you might want to stick with the traditional twist. And here's a pro tip from me to you: wrap these connectors with electrical tape just to be sure those levers don't spring open, like your Uncle Larry's mouth at Thanksgiving dinner. So, what's the bottom line? The WAGO 221 connectors are a game-changer. They make wiring so easy, even a politician could do it. They're quick, they're clean, and they're reliable. But they’re not perfect. For those heavy-duty jobs, you might still want to go old school with the wire nuts.

These are great
They really reduce the time to do multiple installs of direct wire electric devices. Incredible advantage over marrettes if working overhead or splicing different gauge wires. So many fixtures come with pathetic small aluminum wiring which are really spotty with multi line old school copper. No need for pig tails, these handle that issue incredibly well. My only mistake was buying too few the first time. If you do electric work around your home or for your family they cut the working time to a third or a quarter. Buy more than you think you need. Great part of the mixed pack is that you can split larger twists or use the 3 or 4 part connectors for just 2 if you want.
