Testing for Lyme Disease is often of limited benefit. Instructions are fine but don't test too soon!
Lyme disease testing is often of limited benefit and if there is significant concern, especially in the presence of the typical rash (which never develops in about 20-25% of people) then medical attention and possibly treatment may be indicated without any testing, which can be done later. In my opinion the instructions are fine apart from the fact that they do not mention the time it can take for antibodies (which this test detects) to develop. Following infection it takes at least 2 weeks, often 4-6 weeks and occasionally even 8 weeks for antibodies to develop. Also due to this test being designed for 'professional use' the instructions also don't explain the relevance of IgG and IgM. IgG shows recent infection but starts to decline after 6-8 weeks. IgM takes longer to develop but generally then lasts years. A positive IgM but a negative IgG at 4-6 weeks would suggest a previous, not current, infection. Perhaps sounds a bit complicated if not familiar with such matters.I hope not to need this but the expiry date is almost 2 years from now so might well get used either personally or for others. Results are likely to be reliable if used correctly.Attached are a scan of the full instructions and photo of the contents.

I dropped the blood on the hole with b
Yea I messed it up and dropped the blood on the B for buffer thinking it was blood and the s was for solution not specimen or sample. Messed it up so waiting for another to arrive. It's cost me a lot because I had to buy a second one. Old age and brain fog doesn't work well. My eyes even with magnifying glasses couldn't read instructions properly sooo tiny

The Capillary Dropper Did Not Work
I found a previous reviewer really helpful when I read the instructions, about the "S" and "B" labelled wells, so made sure to add the blood specimen to the "S" well first and the added the 3 drops of buffer to the "B" well. The typeface for the instructions in extremely small so it takes longer to read than normal. There are a mixture of professional use instructions and separate home use instructions which made it a little confusing to begin with. I had to re-read the instructions to ensure I was following the correct set of them. There is only one lancet in the kit so it might be worth getting spares in case it doesn't work - as that has happened in the past with home tests that I have used. Other home tests tend to come with a couple of them.I found that the capillary dropper did not suck up the blood, so I had to press the bulb to try to get any to go in. I spent about quite a while following the instructions, angling it in different ways, but it just would not take in the blood specimen, so I had to manually, put in an estimate, based upon other tests I had done. The test itself worked as the control line appeared (in the instructions it states that if the control line does not appear it can be often due to there not being enough blood in the well). The capillary dropper is so tiny and narrow and made it difficult for me to take a sample from my finger. I thought it worthwhile to make others aware before they purchase. There was also no line on the capillary dropper either which made impossible to adhere to the instructions too. The dropper was to be filled to the "line" in the instructions and there was no line on there at all. I had tried another home test from Newfoundland for anaemia, and that capillary dropper was wider so the blood was easily collected and it had a black line on the dropper, so I knew there was a fault with how this kit was put together (as I had questioned myself and asked others in my family to check for the line too, but no-one could see it either).

Awful to use
This test is very confusing and has extremely small writing and also has professional instructions which make me believe you need a lab test for it. Not upset friendly at all.

Fantastic test kit
With the current state of the world, more and more people are taking their health out of big pharma and into their own hands. This is an empowering journey and well worth the energy! Tests like these facilitate our ability to diagnose or at least direct our needs at home. The test is very straightforward and quick to carry out. The results are easy to read and with only a matter of minutes waiting time. Ideal for checking in on my health or in response to symptoms. Very good value too.
