A Volume of Human Tenacity
“Real power is not to be kept protected. It is to be shared.”Platón has made portraits of the powerful for years. His images have been featured on magazine covers and large campaigns. This collection of images features the same approach and aesthetics he has used with world leaders and applies them to ordinary people with the tenacity to exist in a society that makes the very act of living a challenge. His images seem to be stripped of distraction and still rich with, depth, detail and symbolism. It pulls the human thread through each chapter and hopefully connects it to the heart of the viewer. I have felt my own heart react each time I sit down and experience this book. It’s more than a book to occupy space on a coffee table. It’s a volume bearing witness to human experience.

Platon-a great photograoher
This is a large, heavy book, filled with Platon’s amazing photos, covering the inhumanity of Burma/Myanmar, the US Southern border immigration crisis, unrest in Russia, and the abuse of women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The book is about 600 pages, of text and his photos. Platon is a unique and skilled photographer, known for portraits of celebrities and world leaders. He shoots with film, both B&W and color, with a medium format Hasselblat, white or black background, one simple light bounced into a reflecting umbrella. His photos are not about equipment but the ability to capture the soul of the subject. His vision is unique. This book, paperback, is a bargain at $25. It compliments his other three books; Power, Republic, Service. If you collect photo books, try to get all four while they are still in print. His photos routinely grace the cover of Time, Newsweek, Wired, or in the New Yorker. Platon is a must if you want great, provocative photography.

Universal Human Rights Activists
I have always wanted to learn about our modern day heroes in Human Rights. This subject becomes increasingly important with many people feel a need to take a side. This now promotes others to make their side known. Now we have what could’ve been civil conversation but may turn into War.

Platon is an amazing photographer and story telling historian.
Introduces the reader/viewer to the brave people standing strong for Human Rights in many places in the world, connecting the stories and the very real persons. Many of these stories would not be known without the work of Platon.
