Great for mini-split! This is what you need!
I found nothing I didn't like about this well made kit. It worked to install my mini split which saved me hundreds. Easy to use and no leaks found. If you have to charge your unit, you may need an adapter for the type refrigerant you use. Nice storage bag heavy duty canvas and heavy duty zippers. I would have liked more of the oil for the pump, but it did fill to the halfway mark, so I have no clue how it uses oil, but it was good for my one use and probably the lifetime... I'm probably wanting too much. So, save some money, watch a Youtube mini split install video, and follow that for your install. This will also help to charge your auto a/c, but I have no idea how to do that. But, now, I'm an expert at pulling and holding a vacuum on a mini split and opening the valves to release the precharged refrigerant. GET IT...

Works great and have used multiple times
I had ordered a mini split and was just going to use a can of Kwik e-vac but ended up bending and kinking a refrigerant line a little to much and didn't want to take the chance of it failing. So I ended up buying a flaring tool and redoing the lineset thus purchasing this unit to verify that my connections were good . I found a good video on YT on how to use these and this one has been great . I have since used it for two more mini splits and for the price of this vacuum pump,it's 100% worth it just for the confidence and knowing that when you release the refrigerant ,as long as you have verified vacuum and checked everything , that you should have no problems. It came with the adapter for the smaller r410a connection also. Everything fits nicely in the bag and it functioned perfectly. Honestly , spend the money for a vacuum pump just for the extra reassurance as it is less than hoping for the best and then finding out you have a leak and need to evacuate and recharge the system. This worked great for me and I'm really glad I ended up purchasing it as I've used it 3 times already and If I know someone who is installing a mini split , I will be able to use it again . Highly recommended.

Worked well on mini split but oil leaks if it tips over.
First time user, but this thing drew down vacuum quickly even with oil fairly low . One thing to watch out for if you store it on its side it leaks oil. Learned the hard way.

Worked great for installing my new mini split ac unit.
In the past I've used an installer for my new ac systems, but this time I broke down and bought this set since I have three units to install in the near future and hey, it's not rocket science. There are a ton of great videos online showing how to install a new mini split system. Just the first installation saved me $200 to $300 in installation charges after the cost of this pump and gauge set, so it's already paid for itself and saved me money even if it dies tomorrow. In the future I'll pick up a set of adaptors so I can use it on my cars as well. The pump pulled a vacuum quickly and did not get hot even though I ran it for another half hour to give any moisture enough time to be removed. The gauges are easy to set up and use, and seal very well. I left them connected to the ac system overnight to make sure there were no leaks. Neither the ac nor the gauge set leaked any vacuum. The carry bag is very nice and I was really surprised by the thickness of the fabric and quality. The nylon fabric has a rubber/plastic coating on the inside. This will come in handy if the pump ever leaks a little oil (as they all tend to do).Are there better units out there? Definitely, but they'll cost you three to four times (or more) as much as this one. It's perfect for the DIYer.

Great price works great!
Everything worked great!!The unit comes in one medium box, with the pump in one smaller box and the gauge manifold and hoses in another. This was great because the adapters I needed for the split HVAC came with it, along with a bottle of oil the compressor needed. If I had any issues, it would be that the oil supplied just filled it up to just over half way according to the sight window.I’m not an HVAC guy, so I bought this to use two or three times, instead of paying an HVAC service to come out and check/test the install of the split unit I just installed in my shed and needed this to make sure the lines were good. Good thing I did too! I had a leaking connector, that I had to cut off and re-flare the end on the tubing. I think I saved myself a couple hundred dollars on this install alone. So bottom line: I would buy it again in a heartbeat. For my needs, it will work great!

Almost cost me a repair bill, but got lucky
So it started out looking like this was a great deal. I installed a mini split (first one:( ). I attached the gauges, pump (put oil in first) and turned it on. All went well, dropped to vacuum fast (that was my first mistake it should have taken a bit to reach full vacuum) ran for 30 minutes, turned off then let set another 30. Kept vacuum I thought all was good. Something was nagging at the back of my mind to try it again but did not want to be paranoid. Kept the gauges on and slowly opened up the valves on the Mini Split to release the R410A. The gauge did not move! I thought heck the thing has no refrigerant in it! So again thought wait I heard a tiny noise when open the refrigerant valves so it must have something in it. Took off the gauges and did not hear anything. So just to double check I tried another adapter that came with this kit and wow the gauges shot up to normal. Long story short (and partly due to my first go at this Mini Split) I thought I vacuumed the system prior to releasing the refrigerant but only vacuumed the gauge lines! I freaked out and called an AC guy and was told it should be ok due to the very short run I did (10 feet). I got very lucky, turned the system on and it got cold! all is working now. If I would have had a longer run of the lineset would have needed an AC guy to vacuum the system and add more 410. Time will tell if it is ok in the long run. To end this the pump seems ok but the fittings are cheep and garbage. I bought it based on the good reviews. Perhaps I got a lemon? Thinking about researching a return.
