No, it does not fit ATX 9.6x12 motherboard, only a square 9.6x9.6 board.

Is there space in this box for a cd/dvd drive?

Yes there is. As you can see there’s a little precut slot on top which actually has a slot for an optical drive. Just pop it out from the inside. Worked for me.
