Nostalgia
It came in perfect condition, played it until my ps2 wouldn’t work anymore! It’s one of my favorite games and I wish it was remastered for the ps5

Not as hard as people make it
This is the first game my 6 year old son has beaten. He beat both sides in less than a month. That doesn't mean it is easy. It would have been easier if we had read some directions first, instead of using trial and error.I hear a lot of complaints that this game is too hard, so I thought I would give a few directions for beginniners. I am not trying to be insulting but these are a few things I wish we knew earlier.**TIPS**Your deck must have fewer points than your opponents. I know that seems bad but there is often a reason. Some people with weak decks have flowers on their field that you can't place strong monsters on. If your deck has too many strong monsters, you can't move them.Stupid flowers on the field. These kill off all strong monsters. If you can't go around, use weaker monster. Try to get your leader across them before summoning strong cards. Try to find someone like the roaring ocean snake. If you flip him face up, he turns flowers into water. Sweet!Don't skip the blah blah words too fast. After beating several opponents, my son scrolled through so fast we didn't get the code for new monsters. You add these by pressing your left joystick down in the deck area. Here is a freebie JXCB6FU7When you build your deck, you need to get rid of monsters from your deck (the right side of the screen), using the square on your controller and add new ones from your chest (the left side) with the x. Your deck has to have 40 cards. Especially if you win good cards after a battle, you want to do this. I know it seems obvious but we didn't get this until we were nearly done with the first side :(If you lose five battles, you can trade one card in for three new ones. Go to your chest (under the deck icon). When you click on a card it may say reincarnation at the bottom of the screen. If you push your joystick down, you can trade it in for new cards. Every five losses you can do this and that includes if you surrender a duel.Fusion-you can combine two cards by using arrow up when you are preparing to lay a card down. Make sure your stronger monster is number 2 and the weaker one is 1. If they don't combine, you are left with the higher numbered monster, so make sure that is the stronger one.Beast and plants nearly always combine. Note nearly. Once you find two cards that do combine, you may want to write them down.Winged beast cards and fiend cards often make Chimera, the flying mythical beast.Dragon and thunder cards almost always combine.Spellcaster cards may combine with other spellcaster, fairy or thunder cardsIf you find two cards that normally mix that don't -remember them. You don't want to keep killing off good cards that just won't fuse.Power ups. Check the details of individual cards to see which power up works on it. Then make the power up card number 2. If yu use a power up that doesn't work, it kills your monster card. If you have a power up that doesn't work with many of your cards, get rid of it. It always seems to be in your hand hogging up space.Yes, your opponents often have ridiculous abilities you don't. There are a few spell and trap cards that help even this out. Check and see what they do before adding them to your deck. We had one that takes 500 life points from our opponent when turned face up. A shame we didn't know that until we were half way through the second side (Red roses), since some of the opponents have cards that steal 1000 life points each turn! We could have beat the game way sooner if I had told him what the spell cards actually do.Good luck. We had a lot of fun with this once we understood it a little.

An interesting new development in the YuGiOh! video game world.
I recall very vividly purchasing this game waaaay back when it first came out, only to get the cards it came with and return the game to the store I got it from. I'm ashamed to say that I never really gave it the chance it deserved. So, after about a year and a half of debating, I finally decided to pick this one up and play it. Boy, was I glad I did.STORY: 7/10It's pretty basic and easy to understand. You, the player, have been summoned from present day to Medieval Europe as the legendary Rose Duelist, choosing to side with the wielders of the Red Rose or the wielders of the White Rose. Together with your chosen organization, you will travel all across England in order to gain the other side's Rose Cards and either prevent the "Rose Summoning" or playing a role in its execution. What really surprised me about this game's plot was that it actually takes real places, names, and excerpts from our own recorded history, and it blends it so successfully with the YuGiOh! forumla. It was done very well, but it would have been so much better if was a lot longer. With games like Falsebound Kingdom (another YuGiOh! game for the Gamecube), the story was almost exhaustively long. I would've preferred that for this one, too.GAMEPLAY: 9/10I loved it. DOTR takes a sort of Fire Emblem feel and mixes it with the famous--and not so famous--monsters and magic from the actual card game. You will engage in combat on a massive square-based grid, summon your creatures in decent 3D rendering, and find ways to overpower your opponent. You build a Deck of 40 cards, including 1 Deck Leader. According to the leader's presentation in battle, that card will earn Evaluation Points and eventually get promoted, unlocking new and powerful abilities to further increase the level of depth and strategy during combat. After every victory, you will have the opportunity, through a sort of casino slots mini-game, to obtain the cards your opponent used during your duel, allowing you to increase the power of your Deck even further. The only complaint I had was the initial difficulty. If you were stupid enough to skip the tutorial duel, you will find yourself being DEMOLISHED during your first match. You will need to pay very close attention to the rules and regulations of the game. Then again, if you played the actual card game, this should be second nature to you.PRESENTATION: 8/10Pretty solid. From the moment you boot up the game, you'll be excited to play it, especially for first-timers. While the difficulty may be a little relentless from the start, the game itself is extremely fun. To experiment with so many different cards, opponents, terrains, abilities, and so much more content is almost baffling. Too much to comprehend for the average player. It's literally packed with content, even after you've finished the game's story. You can even hook up with a friend and challenge one another in Free Duel mode, where you can duel with no strings attached, and when you finish both stories, you will unlock Edit Map, which allows you to create an entire custom map for you and your opponent to duel on. No matter what you're doing, it's all incredibly fun.MUSIC: 8/10Ominous and very breathtaking. For the short spans of times I was paying attention to the music, I was always captivated. The music is stunning, to say the least. Some of the songs used for the game are actually remixes from past YuGiOh! game, Forbidden Memories, which I have also reviewed. It's catchy, memorable, and captivating.OVERALL RATING: 8/10YuGiOh! Duelists of the Roses is a fresh turn from the typical, broken card game, and it introduces a very deep level of strategy and presents itself as a challenging but very fun game. If you're looking for a new breath of fresh air, this is your stop. Forbidden Memories is the prequel to this game, and if you remembered the password from that game after finishing it, you can enter it here on the Build Deck menu to see what you get. All told, I highly recommend picking up this little gem, whether you're in the mood for it or not.

It is in great condition. Works and plays perfectly
This is the second time I am buying this game. I bought it several years ago when my son was young and it first came out. He is now getting back in to his "retro" game systems and was hoping he had kept his copy of this game. Unfortunately he did not and we had to find a used version. Luckily we were able to find this one. It is in great condition. Works and plays perfectly. It had a few minor scratches on it, but it did not effect the game play in any way. This is a great game and I would recommend it to anyone.

Good for an old ps2 game, but not great
I'm playing on an HDTV and it's still difficult to read any of the words. Fortunately you don't need to read too much to play. There's a lot of story line and tutorial. I would reccommend this game to someone else, but forbidden memories was better. This came with the case and the inside booklets.

Yu-Gi-Oh!
Years ago I played this game a ton. Just recently I wanted to buy it again so I did. Man what can I say? I enjoy it now more that im older. I've always been a fan of strategy games and this is exactly what this game is. Strategy. The game takes you back to the Tudor period, York vs Lancaster on who will rule England. the history part is a nice touch. Product came in on time and it works well. Love this game and if you like the Yu-Gi-Oh series you will too.
